Lorene Wood

Miss Georgia Lorene Wood, 84, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 28th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Vowell officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater. Ms. Wood was born May 28, 1926, in Louisville. She was a graduate of East Central Community College, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was retired from The Winston County Journal, and was an avid photographer. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zelma Earline Wood, and Esther Wood Duncan; and a brother, Walter C. Wood. She is survived by her sister, Lucille Wood of Louisville; a brother, Jim (Ann) Wood of Louisville; three nephews, Jim (Deborah) Duncan, James (Renee) Wood, and Scott Wood; great nephews, Greg Duncan; and two great-nieces, Brandi Duncan (Josh) Herrington and Megan Wood.
