Mrs. Frances Boyd Childress, 79, passed away at Oktibbeha County Hospital on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, in Starkville, Mississippi.
Visitation will be at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Friday, January 14, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday from 1:30 p.m. until service time. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at First United Methodist Church with interment following in Betheden Cemetery with Rev. Mike Childs officiating.
Mrs. Childress was born to Robert Henry and Ella Rebecca Rives Boyd on December 3, 1931. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Louisville, Mississippi and a 50-year member of the Eastern Star. She was a homemaker and bookkeeper and the owner of Childress Appliances and Repair. Mrs. Childress is survived by four sons: Wayne Childress and wife, Bertha, of Aberdeen, Mississippi; Mike Childress and wife, B. J., of Columbia, Mississippi; Robbie Childress and wife, Glenda; and Andy Childress all of Louisville, Mississippi; two brothers, Lamar Boyd and wife, Jeanette, of Longview, Mississippi and Eddie Boyd of Louisville, Mississippi; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phariest Childress; her parents, Robert Henry and Ella Rebecca Rives Boyd; and one brother, Robert Henry Boyd, Jr.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Bruce Childress, Jeremy Torn, Jerry Childress, Tyler Ellis, Danny Fuller, and Robbie Fuller. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Eastern Star. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.
