Helen Kelly McCool Middleton

Helen Kelly McCool Middleton, 99, went to be with the Lord on October 26, 2019 at the Bee Hive Assisted Living in Louisville, MS. The going home service will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 , 11:00 at First Baptist Church, Kosciusko, MS . It will be preceded by two hours of visitation at the church. Interment will be at Parkway Cemetery in Kosciusko. Jordan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Helen Kelly was preceded in death by her husband Gwin, daughter Cheryl, sister Doralyn Simpson, parents Lillian and Clarence McCool, and great granddaughter Hannah Suzanne Farquhar and great grandson John David Iverstine.

Helen Kelly attended Hillman College and Mississippi Southern(USM). She married Gwin Middleton in 1941. They were blessed with four children: Lynne Garner (Ed), Lake Wales FL, Cheryl Ford (Tom), Columbus, Betty Triplett (Mike) Louisville, and Tommy Middleton (Karen), Baton Rouge, LA. She leaves 12 cherished grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Samuel Hammond DAR, Book Lovers and New Century Club of Kosciusko. In retirement she worshipped in her hometown church, First Baptist Kosciusko. After relocating to Louisville she worshipped with dear friends at First Baptist Louisville until her death.

She answered the call to the ministry with her husband in 1950. She considered her role as a minister’s wife as her calling. With joy she taught Sunday School for 45 years and was a faithful soprano in every church choir. She loved the Lord and loved serving Him in many locations and spoke often of wonderful memories of people with whom they served.

In retirement she was always a staunch supporter of her pastors. She was a perfect example of the motto “Bloom Where God Plants You”.

She has always been mindful of Jesus’ command on missions as expressed in Matthew 28:19-20. When writing her check to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for foreign missions recently she made the remark: “Just think. I can sit right here in this assisted living and still be a part of sending the Gospel all over the world.”

Contributions may be made to the mission program in your place of worship, Gideon International, or French Camp.

To paraphrase Paul’s words, “We thank our God for every remembrance of her.”

Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5,6.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the tender, loving care given her by the Louisville Nursing Home, Beehive Homes of Philadelphia and Louisville, and the many faithful friends who surrounded her with love and laughter.

Shirley Jean Duty

Mrs. Shirley Jean Duty, 78, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman, MS. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2nd, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City, AL, with Rev. Ricky Ward officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the Chapel.

Shirley was born June 8, 1941, in Russell County, AL. She was a retired school teacher, and a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. She had been a resident of Louisville, MS since 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Duty; and her parents, Bertha Sanders and Rube Simmons.

She is survived by her sons, Darrell (Gina) Duty and Dennis (Vickie) Duty, both of Louisville, MS; her goddaughter, Robin Hudson of Phenix City, AL; two brothers, William Simmons of Phenix City, AL and Wallace Simmons of Columbus, GA; four grandchildren, Nicholas Duty, Cole Duty, Courtney Duty, and Heather Taylor; and two great grandchildren, Liam Hunt and Ella Duty.

Jerry Lee Weaver

Jerry Lee Weaver passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at his residence, in Ackerman, MS. He was 67 years old. Mr. Weaver was born November 2, 1951, in Choctaw County, MS, to David Joel and Lois(Higgins) Weaver.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at Antioch Community Church, near Ackerman, MS, with Rev. Rob Faulk, Rev. Bill Hutto and Larry Savell officiating. Tony Howard

Mr. Tony Lyn Howard, 68, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019, at the Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 31st, at Porter Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Tony was born June 14, 1951, in Winston County, MS. He was a graduate of Louisville High School. He was an Army veteran and served in South Korea during the Vietnam war, worked as a lineman for East Mississippi Electric Power Assn., and was a deputy for the Winston County Sheriff’s Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Ruth Hight Howard; and two brothers, Danny Howard and Lee Howard.

He is survived by five children, Andy Ingram of Lufkin, TX, Dustin Howard of Louisiana, Renee Pursley of Belleville, TX, Toni Howard of Columbus, MS, and Whitney Blackwell of Jackson, MS; a sister, Mary Howard Kelly of Nacogdoches, TX, two brothers, Leo Howard of McCool, and Algene Howard of Kosciusko, MS, ten grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Patrick Lee

Mr. Patrick Christopher Lee, 48, passed away on October 24, 2019, in Richmond, VA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Patrick was born May 4, 1971, in Macon, MS. He was a 1989 graduate of Nanih Waiya Attendance Center, and an MRI Technician at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS and in Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grace Suttle and William Felix Suttle, and Virginia Lee and Harold Lee, Sr.

He is survived by his parents, Nan Suttle Lee and Harold Lee; two sisters, Amber Yates and Cameron Whitehead; and nieces and nephews, Bryton Yates, Peyton Carlisle, Hallie Yates, Will Whitehead, and Taylor Whitehead, all of Louisville.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Blasingame, Wendell Eaves, Billy Bryan, Sean Holdiness, Joe Johnson, and David Luke.

Willie Dean McDonald

Mrs. Willie Dean McDonald, 93, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 2nd, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Woody Rimes and Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McDonald was born April 30, 1926in in Magnolia, MS. She was retired from Spartus Corp. and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she kept the church nursery for 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dannie O’Neal McDonald; her parents, John and Annie Strickland Rimes.

She is survived by a son, Mike (Cindy) McDonald of Erie, PA, two daughters, Glenda (Earl) Jennings of Louisville, and Kathy Ishee of Anniston, AL; two sisters, Elmer Vance of Vancouver, WA, and Marie Milton of Oak Grove, LA; a brother, Alfred Rimes of McComb, MS; four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Earl Jennings, Eric Ishee, Garrett Ishee, Chance Johnson, Brian McDonald, and James Humphries.

Kathy Annette Todd

Services for Kathy Annette Todd will be held Sunday, October 27, 2019, at 2 p.m. from Plattsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Dwight Fleming and Rev. Jonas Horn officiating. Mrs. Todd, 67, of Noxapater, died Friday, October 25, 2019, at her home.

She was a native and lifelong resident of the Plattsburg Community in Winston County. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Todd was a member of the Plattsburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband of 47 years, Dennis Todd of Noxapater; daughter, Patty Savell of Philadelphia; two sons, David Dewayne Todd (Denise) of Hickory and Jonathan Todd (Courtney) of Noxapater; seven grandchildren, David Todd, Jr., Jessica Todd Weir, Reagan Farrell, Samantha Todd, Kristen Lindsey, Kayleigh Lindsey, Jonallen Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Todd and Matthew Thomas Weir; four sisters, Pauline Hamilton and Murle Duran, both of Noxapater, Rachael Mayo of Louisville and Diane Feasel of Philadelphia; brother, Alton Hamilton of Union; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by her daughter, Misty Todd Lindsey; parents, John and Sue Hamilton; father and mother-in-law, Clyde and Lucillie Todd; and sister, MaryMcCann.

Richard Jerl “Ricky” Dickerson, Jr.

Mr. Richard Jerl “Ricky” Dickerson, Jr. , 57, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at his home in Noxapater, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 27th, at First Pentecostal Church in Noxapater, MS, Rev. Antoine Stokes officiating. Ricky was born March 21, 1962 in Chicago, IL. He was a self-employed carpenter.

He is survived by his parents, Ora Lee and Richard Dickerson; his brother, Dale (Carolyn) Dickerson of Louisville; a granddaughter, Madelyn Grace Dickerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Justin Dickerson; and a brother, Tommy Dewayne Dickerson.

Janice Estes Atwood

Janice E. Atwood, age 80, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Graveside services and interment will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 27 at Noxapater Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Reese officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Janice was born December 25, 1938, to Jim and Mary Sue Price Estes. She was a member of Noxapater United Methodist. She enjoyed outdoor activities such fishing and her flowers. Janice was an honorable wife, friend, and mother.

Janice is survived by her loving husband of 20 years Glen Atwood of Noxapater, Mississippi; and her daughter Celeste Estes and wife Jessica Smith of Mosheim, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband Maxie Dotson; her parents; and her brother James “Shack” Estes.

Serving as pallbearers are Sammy Carter, Bobby Ellis, Elgene Nunn, Eddie Pierce, R. J. Pierce, Rex Allen Smith, and Brian Burrage.

Bobby McKay

Mr. Bobby McKay, 89, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Winston County Medical Center in Louisville, MS. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 25, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. Bobby was born on January 3, 1930 in Winston County to Robert Samuel and Amanda Gertrude Eaves Carr McKay. His life began in a time where hard work and grit were needed for survival. The values of integrity, dependability, compassion, kindness, generosity and loyalty were developed in him from early on. Growing up on a farm developed his strong work ethic. He had many stories about plowing, growing crops and caring for cows, horses, mules and chickens. He attended and graduated from Ellison Ridge School. While there he played basketball and it was at a basketball game in Mashulaville, that Dot Suttle captured his attention; they dated and later married in 1950. All three of their children, Rickey, Ernie and Leasa grew up a few yards from where he grew up.

Bobby thoroughly enjoyed his work at Fair Lumber Company and then Georgia-Pacific where he was a land and timber buyer. He made a lot of friends and got to see a lot of Mississippi and Alabama. He would replay many timber cruises, characters he met and deals done. Equally satisfying was his sweat and work on our cattle farm, huge garden and orchard. He enjoyed genealogical research and retelling family stories. He was open about his faith and trust in the Lord and supported Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church in Louisville. He held many leadership positions as a teacher, deacon, committee chairman among others and he was a Gideon.

He leaves behind a host of family members and friends who treasure him and their memories of him. He is survived by his sons, Rickey (Rachel) McKay and Ernie (Donna) McKay and daughter, Leasa McKay, grandchildren, Ericka McKay Miller (Jay), Bobby Denton McKay (Amy), Heather McKay Studdie (Bo) and Brittany McKay Fancher (Lee) and great-grand-children, Celeste Clayton, Nicholas Studdie, Caleb Studdie, Abby Studdie, Prasaus Fancher, Mary Lawrence McKay and Lydia McKay. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Suttle McKay.

Hazel White Ward

Mrs. Hazel White Ward, 84, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at the Beehive Home in Louisville, MS. Hazel was born October 19, 1935, in Louisville, MS. She was a homemaker and a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church. She spent almost 35 years milking cows with her husband on their farm. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Ward; her parents, Hazel Crowell White and Henry Lee White; and one sister, Mary White.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Mike) Smith of Louisville, MS and Jenny (Dan) Hogan of Cumming, GA; one son, Danny (Terressa) Ward of Louisville, MS; two brothers, John H. (Louise) White of Louisville and Jerry (Mickie) White of Morganton, NC; seven grandchildren, Josh (Ginger) Ward, Brett (Kellye) Smith, Jolie (Jonathan) Eaves, Stan Smith, Zachary Hogan, Chandler Hogan, and Danielle (Patrick) Cook; and three great grandchildren, Chandler Foster, Dawson Eaves, and Hayze Eaves.

Pallbearers will be Mike Johnson, William Strait, Phil Caldwell, Michael Ming, Taylor Tucker, and Freddy Fulcher.

Rebecca "Becky" Stanley

Rebecca “Becky” Stanley, age 44, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 23 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Gomillion officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 10 a.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will follow in Camp Ground Cemetery.

Becky was born May 16, 1975, to Jerry and Frances Eaves Stanley in Louisville, Mississippi. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She enjoyed riding horses but most of all she loved her children and her family. Becky was very talented creatively and enjoyed decorating cakes.

Becky is survived by her daughter Angel Gray and husband Anderson of Philadelphia, Mississippi; and her son Gatlin Ellis of Kosciusko, Mississippi. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing two sisters Rachel HeLal and Ashley Stanley; as well as her nieces, nephews and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Alex Gray, Anderson Gray, Jimmy Gray, Daniel Sciple, Skyllar Sciple, and Jeff Stanley. Memorial contributions in honor of Becky may be given to Nowell Massey Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Vardaman Parker; her parents, Gladys Bane and Barney Newton Eubanks; her brothers, Edwin Eubanks, Jack Eubanks, Portis Eubanks, and Johnny Eubanks; and a sister, Margie Morris.

She is survived by a daughter, Katherine Ann (Rob) Rice of Starkville, MS; two sons, Charles (Barbara) Parker of Louisville, and Donald Ray (Joan) Parker of Noxapater; a brother, Mack (Janice) Eubanks of Philadelphia, MS two granddaughters, Shelley (Steve) Westbrook, and Wendy (Brent) Walton; and a great grandson, Gage Parker.

David Swain

Mr. James David Swain, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at his home in Louisville, MS. David was born October 28, 1942 in Jackson, MS to Julian Bailey and Laverne Horne Swain. He was a 1961 graduate of Noxapater High School. For many years he owned his own electronics repair business in downtown Louisville. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, cooking, woodworking, genealogy research, and teaching himself to play the dulcimer and guitar. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Whitmire Swain of Louisville, MS; three sons, Craig (Carol) Swain of Noxapater, MS, Adam (Marie) Swain of Louisville, MS, and Jason (Jayme) Swain of Macon, GA; his four grandchildren, Jon (Katie) Swain of Fayetteville, AR, Ashton Swain of Louisville, MS, Lenora and Luke Swain of Macon, GA; three sisters, Betty Moore of Sturgis, MS, Gloria Ming of Meridian, MS, and Vivian Tennenbaum of Daly City, CA; and one sister-in-law Marzene Whitmire of Louisville, MS. He was predeceased by his parents, his son Michael David Swain, and one brother, Julian Bailey Swain, Jr.

Ruth Davis Young

Mrs. Young was born April 24, 1931, in Louisville, MS, to Lula Mae and John Virgil Davis.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Ockershauser of Spring, TX, Sandra Stocks of Clear Lake, TX, and Charlotte Burns of Durango, CO.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Mae Byrd, and two brothers, LeRoy Davis and John Cecil Davis.
