John Eldridge Sullivan

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Eldridge Sullivan of Louisville, Mississippi, a devoted father, loyal friend, and a beloved brother. John passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at his home in Louisville at the age of 55. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.

John was a man who found his greatest joy in the simple things that mattered most—time spent with his son, Jes, laughter shared with family and friends, and the peace he found outdoors. Whether he was casting a line at sunrise, hunting in the quiet woods, or just sitting at the pond with his faithful dog, Mary Ann, by his side, he felt most at home under an open sky.

Known for his unwavering loyalty, he stood firmly beside the people he loved and believed deeply in honesty, trust and commitment. He valued loyalty above all else and gave it freely to those who were fortunate enough to know him. His strong spirit and unmistakable presence left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed his path.

Above all, he loved his son beyond measure. Being a father was one of the greatest sources of pride and purpose in John’s life. It was a love wrapped in constant protection.

John will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his fierce loyalty, his very generous heart, his big presence in every room he entered, and the countless memories made around campfires, on fishing trips, and among the people he cherished most.

Though he is gone too soon, his memory will live on in the stories told, and the love he leaves behind in the hearts of his family and friends. “Big John” will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

John is survived by his son, John Eldridge “Jes” Sullivan, II; his sister, Amy Rosamond; and two brothers, Mark Sullivan (Karen) and Jeff Sullivan (Amanda). He dearly loved his nieces and nephew: Chasady Oswalt, Morgan Pace, and Channing Parkes; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews. John is preceded in death by his parents, T. P. Sullivan, Jr. and Sylvia Hatcher Sullivan; and his grandparents.
