David Lynn Dempsey, 82, passed away at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Thursday, May 14, 2026. Memorial Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23 at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery with Reverend Ricky Bane officiating.
David was born April 22, 1944, to John Burney and Ruby Lee Griffin Dempsey in Louisville. He found joy in the little things — caring for cats, feeding deer, and spending time cutting grass.
David is survived by his brother, Jimmy Boyd Dempsey (JoAnn); his sister, Lottie Gay Dempsey Whitmire (Shelton); sister-in-law, Thelma Dean Dempsey; and a host of nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John Hubert Dempsey; and two sisters, Topsy Ruth Edwards Hickox and Frances Carol Crosby.
