Asa was born June 18, 1939, to Arlene and Tom Hawk Thomas. He lived most of his life in Noxapater where He worked in the timber industry as the owner/operator of a logging operation and a sawmill owner/operator. Later in life, he enjoyed working on the Nanih Waiya Wildlife Management Area. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved fishing. Above all, he loved his family and his greatest joy was being “Pa” to the grands and great-grands.
Asa is survived by his children: Jerry Thomas (Tracy Mullins), Jimmy Thomas, Ginger (Larry) Phillipson, James “Chunky” (Sandra) Thomas, and TJ (Melissa) Thomas. One of his greatest joys was being “Pa” to his grandchildren: James Gully (Nadine Kirk), Sam (Kellie) Gully, Brady Thomas, and Chase (Anna) Thomas; as well as his beloved great-grandchildren: Jack Thomas, Elena Thomas, Isaac Thomas, Jackson Gully, Emmett Gully, Gavin Gully, Westyn Gully, Birdie Thomas, Olyn Thomas, Corbin Kirk, Caroline Kirk, and Catie Kirk. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Thomas and JW Thomas; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse Gene and Emily Holton; and a host of other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth; his grandson, Micheal Thomas, his parents, and his brother, Devon Thomas.
Serving as pallbearers are TJ Thomas, James Gully, Sam Gully, Brady Thomas, Chase Thomas, and Tyler Coward.
