Louisville, Mississippi, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be Thursday,
September 25 at 11 a.m. in the Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Heath Cross
officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville from
10 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Louisville Memorial
Cemetery.
Dan was born October 27, 1933, to Joseph and Susie Pugielli Letteri in West Aliquippa,
Pennsylvania. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church and he was also a
member of the local Gideon camp, where he served as Scripture Chairman. Dan earned a
Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College where he played football and baseball. During his
senior year at Mississippi College, his teammates selected him as the permanent captain of
The football team. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football. He began his working
career as a teacher and coach. He then became an insurance field representative for 33
years, during which he was selected as Special Agent of the Year three times. He also
enjoyed collecting stamps and coins.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Melva Goodin Letteri of Louisville, and his son,
John Letteri of Tupelo, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy” to his
three grandchildren: Meagan Boykin and husband Gunnar, Joseph Scott Letteri, and Nathan
Letteri (Hailea Molina). He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren: Julie Scott Boykin,
Max Boykin, Shea Boykin, Libby Boykin, Louis Oliver “Oli” Letteri and Silas Letteri; as well as
by a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Dan was preceded in death
by his son, Dr. Joe Letteri; his grandson, Joseph Scott Letteri; his parents; one brother and
three sisters.
Serving as pallbearers are Nathan Letteri, Phil Caldwell, Johnny Causey, Josh Goodin,
Robert Goodin, and Roy Roeland. Memorials in honor of Dan may be given to the Winston-
Choctaw Gideon Camp, P. O. Box 556, Louisville, MS 39339 or to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital online at stjude.org.
