She loved her family unconditionally and made all of her company welcome, never knowing how many she needed to cook for. One of her greatest joys was being Grannie or Nanny to all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, caning and freezing vegetables, and growing beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed cooking and was an accomplished quilter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, J.W. McKinzie; her parents; her granddaughter, Kaye Lynette Fulgham; her daughter, Peggy Eyvonne Fulgham; her two sons-in-law, Zane Fulgham and Don Fulton; and her sons, Robert McKenzie and Darrell McKenzie.
She is survived by her children, James McKenzie and wife, Coleen of Eupora, MS, Val Barham and husband, Clay of Columbus, MS; daughter-in-law, Pat McKenzie of Walker, La., Elaine Fulton of Louisville, MS, Jake McKenzie and wife, Loretta of Sturgis, MS, Bill McKenzie and wife, Joleen of Louin, MS, Ernest McKenzie and wife, Nora of Walker, La, Loy McKenzie of Sturgis, MS, daughter-in-law, Charlice McKenzie of Starkville, MS, Sheila McKenzie Tally of Louin, MS, her fiancé, Ronnie Brown; 20 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Ples Ivy and wife, Virgie of Burlington, WI.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the Celebration of Life service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Melvin Mordecai will conduct the service. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery in Louisville, MS.
