Katherine “Kat” Flake McBrayer

Katherine “Kat” Flake McBrayer, age 83, passed away on May 12, 2022, in the Senatobia Healthcare and Rehab Center in Senatobia, Mississippi. A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 15 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Bro. Jimmy Flake and Bro. Wayne Hill officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will immediately follow the service in Crystal Ridge Cemetery.

Katherine was born June 13, 1938, to Willie Jessie and Margaret White Flake. She was a member of Crystal Ridge Baptist Church. Kat enjoyed working in her flowers and watching birds, especially cardinals. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Kat is survived by her children Angie Nowell of Hernando, Mississippi, and Ray McBrayer and wife Patricia of Montgomery, Alabama. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny Kat” to her four grandchildren: Dee (Kylie) McBrayer, Jessi (Trey) Jones, Kyle (Craegh) McBrayer, and Molli (Chance) Fortenberry; as well as her six great-grandchildren: Jackson Jones, Tripp McBrayer, Gray McBrayer, Charlie McBrayer, Lincoln Jones, and Pearl Fortenberry. She is survived by three sisters: Martha (Leroy) Fulcher, Elaine (Tom) Dooley, and Ruby Rogers. Kat is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Eddie McBrayer, her parents, her grandson and great-grandson Eli McBrayer, and her siblings: Minnie Hudspeth, Maggie Eaves, Clinton Flake, and George Flake.

Serving as pallbearers are Dee McBrayer, Kyle McBrayer, Trey Jones, Chance Fortenberry, Ritchie Hudspeth, and Ronnie Flake. Mike Robertson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
