Funeral Services for Mary Waudine Akins will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Dr. Mike Carr officiating and Pam Fulton delivering the eulogy. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will follow in Henry’s Chapel Cemetery in Neshoba County.
McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Akins, 94, of Philadelphia, died Friday, April 23, 2021, at her son's home.
A native of Neshoba County, she was manager of TWL and later owner/manager of City Market. She loved gardening, quilting, sewing and needle point. Mrs. Akins was a member of Henry’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Norma Byrd (Ben) and Debbie Steed (Ricky); son, Dwight Akins (Faye); four grandchildren, Memory Bell, Teddy Martin, Andy Stewart and Chris Stewart; four great-grandchildren, Zach Stewart, Zoey Bell, Marley Bell and Wrenlee Bell; one brother, Hays Posey.
Mrs. Akins was preceded in death by husband, Elmer Crawley Akins; father, William Frank Posey; mother, Mabel Pearl Posey; infant sister, Audine Posey and infant brother, Lomer Hays Posey.
Pallbearers are Keith Lillis, Fred Grant, Guy Holley, David Byars, Jerry Hays Posey, James Chaney, and Hunter Holley.
In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
