Carmen E. Smith

Carmen Elizabeth McNeill Smith went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2020, at the age of 96. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10 at Memorial Cemetery in Louisville with Tommy Smith officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home.

Carmen, the daughter of Thomas Dillard McNeill and Ida Franklin Parks McNeill, was born on October 19, 1924. Growing up in the Bond Community, she attended Bond School. Upon graduation, Carmen married Odie Smith, Sr. Throughout their married life they lived in Pascagoula, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; San Diego, California; and in the Loakafoma Community. Carmen was the mother of three sons: Odie Smith, Jr. and wife Patsy of Raymond, Mississippi; Tommy Smith and wife Pat of Louisville; and Larry Parks Smith of Edwards, Mississippi.

Carmen attended Singleton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. In her latter years, she enjoyed attending First Baptist Church, Louisville, Mississippi.

Carmen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind her grandchildren: David Wayne (Laurie) Smith, Florence, Mississippi; Brooke Smith (Ryan) Eaves, Louisville, Mississippi; Larina Smith (Clay) Mason, Raymond, Mississippi; and Katie Smith (Jeff) Arnold, Brandon, Mississippi. Her great-grandchildren are: Branson Eaves, Anna Rose Eaves, Sydney Smith, Carmen Mason, Grace Mason, Emily Ray Mason, Lexi Arnold, and Jon Caleb Arnold. Carmen was preceded in death by her granddaughter Sherri Lynn Smith and grandson Grant Smith.

Serving as pallbearers are Jeff Arnold and Clay Mason.
