Emma Hyde

Mrs. Emma Carr Hyde, 97, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 1st, at 1:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 noon until service. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hyde was born August 15, 1921, in Winston County, MS. She and her husband, James, lived in New Orleans for many years, and later moved to Long Beach, MS upon retirement. Emma retired after many years as a secretary for the United States Navy. After James’ death, Emma moved back home to Louisville, where she was a faithful member of First Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hyde; her parents, Ollie Mae and Wilmon D. Carr; a sister, Agnes Landberg; and a nephew, Dave Spears.

She is survived by a sister, Frances (J. W.) Spears of Brandon, MS; a niece, Pam (Mike) Broadway, a nephew, Jim Spears; and a number of great nephews and a great-niece.

Pallbearers will be Jim Spears, Mike Broadway, Josh Broadway, Joseph Broadway, Zach Spears, and Danny Mills.
