Mary Taylor Veazey

Ms. Mary Taylor Veazey, 84, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mary was born in Winston County on March 19, 1933, to George and Dolly Watson Taylor. For many years, she worked as a waitress at Lake Tiak O’Khata. She later retired from Sunflower where she worked as a cashier. Mary was a faithful member of East Louisville Baptist Church until she entered the nursing home. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved spending time with her family and greatly loved her grandkids.

Mary is survived by two sons, Larry Veazey and wife, Linda, of Louisville; and Bill Veazey of North Carolina; and her daughter-in-law, Annette Veazey of Forest, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her seven grandchildren: Ashley Alexander and husband, Ben; Katie Rutledge and husband, Brandon; Jennifer Savell and husband, Jim; Jackie Nabors and husband, David; Julie Thompson and husband, Jamie; Conal Veazey; and Jaret Veazey and wife, Crystal. She also loved her nine great-grandchildren: Emma Grace and Ava Rose Alexander; Helena Love Rutledge; Adam and Mark Savell; Dylan and Preston Thompson; Nathan and Anna Claire Nabors. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Veazey; her son, Jamie Veazey; her parents; three brothers, Jimmy, Floyd, and Billy Taylor; and her sister, Sadie Taylor.

Serving as pallbearers are Ben Alexander, Buddy Miller, Butch Miller, Brandon Rutledge, Jim Savell, and Jamie Thompson. Memorial contributions in honor of Ms. Mary may be given to East Louisville Baptist Church, P. O. Box 706, Louisville, MS 39339.
