Steve Branson

Steve Branson, 56, passed away suddenly surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Headd and Rev. Eddie Agnew officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until service time. Interment immediately following in Glenn Cemetery.

Steve was born December 5, 1960, in DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jerome Woodruff and Leta Crask Branson. He accepted the Lord at an early age in Missouri and after relocating to Louisville in 2000, he joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Pastor James Headd. Steve was self-employed until 2008, when he began working at Deer Run, Inc. He was currently employed as Operations Manager at Quail Ridge Lodge. Steve loved his job and was a dedicated employee of the Taylor Group and their family; he was also a dedicated husband and father. He was a people person and loved to help others. His favorite shows were comedy and he loved a good joke, even though he couldn’t always get them right but they were funny nonetheless. Steve was a pet lover and rescued many. He loved to play guitar and tried to sing; he couldn’t keep a beat and didn’t have a tune, but it did not stop him! Steve never gave up on anything he put his mind to accomplishing.

Steve is survived by his friend and wife, Dorothy Sellers Branson of Louisville; and two sons, Nick Glenn and wife, Elvira; and Brandon Sellers and wife Wendy, all of Chicago, Illinois. One of his greatest joys was being “Grandpa” to two grandsons he raised, Quanairo Fortineaux and Cameron Fortineaux. He is also survived by his brother, Doug Kotowski; four uncles, Pierce, Mark, Roger, and Brad Crask; his sister-in-law, Nell Glenn; and six brothers-in-law: Raymond, Herman, Marvin, Robert, John, and David Glenn. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Glenn and his parents.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Clark, Cole Clark, Pierce Crask, Cameron Fortineaux, Quanairo Fortineaux, and Brandon Sellers. Memorial contributions in honor of Steve may be given to Louisville Friends of the Animals, 110 Thompson Street, Louisville, MS 39339.
