Edith Kennedy

Mrs. Edith Kennedy passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus,Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Owen Gordon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Kennedy was born April 28, 1932, to Karl and Babette Lunz in Nurnberg,Germany. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; and a blessing to everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Hamlet Kennedy; three daughters, Tammy Castle and husband, Ricky, of Louisville; Joann Beech and husband, Todd; and Debbie Farris all of Mobile, Alabama; and two sons, Eugene Kennedy of Louisville; and Buster Kennedy and wife, Kaye, of Gulf Shores, Alabama. She has 11 grandchildren: Summer Ashmore (Jonathan); Michael Castle; Maria Beech; Toni Hunt; Tionka Hunt; Chris Hunt; Michelle Roffler (Mitchell); Jimmie Farris (Becky); Jeffrey Kennedy (Alissa); Christy Kennedy; and Angie Manders. Mrs. Kennedy has 15 great-grandchildren: Hunter Lunz Ashmore; KennedyCastle; Dylan Castle; Jake Kennedy; Landon Kennedy; Taylor Kennedy; P. J. Farris; Kanyon Farris; Valerie Farris; Garret Farris; Lyndsie Farris; Maggie Roffler; Conner Roffler; Ryan Ealy; and Caitlyn Ealy. She also has three sisters-in-law, Doris Zane Gordon of McCool, Mississippi; Sharon Kennedy of Louisville; and Mary Nell Furr of Biloxi, Mississippi; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Edith was preceded in death by her son, Michael Kennedy; her parents; two brothers, Gunther Lunz and Heinz Lunz; her son-in-law, Pat Farris; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Doyle Kennedy.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Ashmore, Dylan Castle, Michael Castle, Jeffrey Kennedy, and Eugene Kennedy.
