Susan Gregory Dillard


Mrs. Susan Gregory Dillard, 43, died Sunday, June 20, 2010, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at South Louisville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at South Louisville Baptist Church, with Rev. Trent Jaudon, Rev. Rob Faulk, Rev. David Keene, and Rev. Sammie McMillen officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.

Susan was born August 26, 1966 to Gale and Frances Hill Gregory. She was a graduate of Nanih Waiya Attendance Center, where she taught English and where, as a National Board Certified Teacher, she was selected as the 2010 Teacher of the Year as well as the Star Teacher for 2010. She also served as the Beta Club Sponsor. She received her doctorate degree from Mississippi State University where she previously taught and where she served on the board of the MSU Baptist Student Union. She was an active member of South Louisville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was involved in the Awana Program. She was also a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary, Mississippi Professional Educators Association and Winston County Republican Women. She was co-owner of the Fairy Godmother Formal Dress Shop.

Susan is survived by her husband, Mark Dillard; a son, John Atwell Dillard; her parents, Gale and Frances Hill Gregory; a brother, Kevin and Nicole Gregory; her grandmother, Mrs. Laverne Gregory; and three nieces, Logan, Jillian, and Bailey Gregory, all of Louisville. Her father and mother-in-law, Willie and Minnie Dillard; a brother-in-law, Jimmy Rogers; and two nieces, Brandi and Crystal (Jeff) Rogers Davis, all of Shannon, Mississippi.

Pallbearers will be the deacons of South Louisville Baptist Church and the honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Good Hope Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program. Nowell-Massey Funeral Home, 724 North Columbus Avenue, Louisville, MS is handling the arrangements.
