Henry Lamar Clark

Mr. Henry Lamar Clark, 94, died Tuesday, June 22nd, at Winston Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 28th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Scott Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Clark was born November 26, 1915, in Louisville, MS, the son of Velma Hathorn and Grady Clark. He was retired from the U. S. Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the ROTC at Mississippi State University, where he graduated in 1938 with a B.S. degree in Agronomy. He joined the Army Reserves, and was called to active duty immediately after Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was a Lt. Colonel and had a distinguished military career. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Clark Carroll.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Smyth Clark; a step-son, Steve White of Louisville; step-daughters, Susanne Galtney and Lisa Dawn Burgan, both of Houston, TX; 9 step-grandchildren; a nephew, Henry Holmes (Hank)Carroll of Miami, FL; and a niece, Dana Jo Carroll of Scotia, NY.
