Stanley Frank Phillips

Stanley Frank Phillips, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at his home in Fentress, MS. Stanley was a deacon of Fentress Baptist Church for 57 years and served as Sunday School Teacher for numerous years. He enjoyed farming, hunting with family, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very proud Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Stanley and Maxine were inseparable for 71 years of marriage. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the Air Force – 35th Field Maintenance Squadron. 

After the Air Force, he farmed until going to work for the GM&O Railroad and retired after 40 years. He was a member of the American Legion for 60 years and loved meeting with his friends and neighbors. He was always ready to lend a hand to all of his friends and family in any situation.
Funeral services will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM with Rev. David Shivers officiating and a tribute by Ronny Prewitt. Burial will follow at Fentress Baptist Church Cemetery near Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, as well as one hour prior to service time from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and great-grandsons.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Mary Maxine (McCool) Phillips of Fentress, MS; his two daughters, Debbie Jones (Lee) of Brandon, MS and Teresa Nowell (Jackie) of Stewart, MS; his son, Frank Phillips (Renae) of Brandon, MS; four grandchildren, Andy Jones of Madison, MS, Sam Whitmire of Stewart, MS, Evan Jones (Meghan) of Brandon, MS, and Jamie Whitmire (Rachel) of Hamilton, MS; and six great-grandchildren, Andrew Jones of Madison, MS, Charlotte Jones of Brandon, MS, Madeline Jones of Brandon, MS, Hunter Whitmire of Hamilton, MS, Jackson West of Hamilton, MS, and Imilie West of Gilbert, AZ. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Icey (Moore) Phillips, his six brothers, and his three sisters.

The family wishes to thank the “Awesome Caregivers” during our dad’s illness, Tina Hudson, Sandy Whysall, Brenda Bishop, Linda Black, Liz Holland, and Cindy Weeks. We also appreciate the wonderful care that was given from Halcyon Hospice, Erica Houston, and Shakala Boler and the whole Halcyon Staff.
