Carol Jannette Nelson passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the age of 87 after a short illness.
Jannette, or “Nette” as her family and many friends knew her, was born to Frederick Joshua Taylor and Mary Arrietta (Spears) Taylor on August 29, 1937 in McCool MS. She was a graduate of Lobutcha High School in Lobutcha MS and Draughon’s Business College in Jackson MS. She married the love of her life William Otis “Bill” Nelson in 1957 and they made their home in Jackson MS until 2005 when they moved to Brandon MS. After Bill’s passing, Jannette enjoyed living at Castlewoods Place Assisted Living in Brandon MS for several years.
Jannette was an antiques dealer for many years and loved sourcing and dealing in country primitive antiques, and for a time was co-owner of her own antique shop “The Country Mouse” in Ridgeland MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Nelson, her brother Jerry Taylor and her great grandchild Jay Thomas.
She is survived by her sister Joanne Adcock of Philadelphia MS; two sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Madonna Nelson of Ridgeland MS and Joey and Dovie Nelson of Brandon MS; four grandchildren: Taylor Nelson of Brentwood TN, Colin Nelson of Nashville TN, Beth Shepherd of Summit MS, and Casey Cap of Canton MS; eight great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many cousins, nieces and nephews and their many children and grandchildren.
Jannette will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved her.
A funeral service honoring Jannette will be held at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville MS at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 15, 2025, with visitation on the same day from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be at East County Line Cemetery in McCool MS.
