Brenda was born November 15, 1958, to Melvin and Joy Dean Beck Simmons in Grenada, Mississippi. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church. Brenda enjoyed greeting and visiting with customers as they entered the family business, Gregory’s Food Mart. She also loved to plant flowers in the spring and watch them grow. Brenda was an excellent cook; but she also enjoyed eating out. Most of all, she dearly loved her family and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play ball.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, George William “Buddy” Gregory, Jr.; and her children, Eric (Shannon) Gregory and Heather (Brad) Tabor all of Louisville. One of her greatest joys was being “Nana” to her six grandchildren: Alexis (Max) Burdine, Hunter Gregory, Hayze Gregory, Ashlyn Tabor, Devin Tabor, and Maddox Tabor. She also leaves her great-granddaughter, Jordyn Burdine; and was looking forward to the birth of another great-granddaughter in May. Additionally, Brenda is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Earl Simmons; and sister, Rhonda Simmons.
Serving as pallbearers are Hunter Gregory, Hayze Gregory, Devin Tabor, Maddox Tabor, Max Burdine, and Corby King. Memorials in honor of Brenda may be given to Murphy Creek Cemetery Fund, 5420 Bond Road, Louisville, MS 39339 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org.
