Virginia Houston

Virginia Houston, 79, passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at NHC Healthcare in Tullahoma, Tennessee. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at Ellison Ridge Baptist Church in Louisville, Mississippi, with Zach Stevens officiating and Bro. Michael Wells assisting. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will follow in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family urges everyone to please observe all safety precautions concerning COVID-19.

Virginia was born January 4, 1941, to Edward and Louise Anderson Carr in Nashville, Tennessee. For 48 years, she has been a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church where she enjoyed Sunday school and church fellowships. She loved and served the Lord faithfully; and she enjoyed listening to gospel music. Virginia also enjoyed gardening, reading, and cooking as well as spending time with her family and friends. She spent many years loving and caring for children in her home treating them as they were her own and enjoying watching them grow up.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Lori Stevens and husband Trey of Tullahoma, Tennessee. One of her greatest joys was being “Gran” to her two grandchildren: Lindsay (Christian) Hagstrom and Zachary (Erin) Stevens. She is also survived by her siblings: Johnny (Chloe) Carr, Betty Carr, Patsy Carr, Paul (Cheryl) Carr, and Debbie Baldwin as well as her sister-in-law Maxine Houston. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Otis Houston and her parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Christian Hagstrom, Charles Johnson, Jacob Johnson, Trey Stevens, and Zachary Stevens. Memorials in honor of Virginia may be given to Ellison Ridge Cemetery Fund, c/o Johnny Eaves, 4784 Ellison Ridge Church Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
