Mike Eaves

Michael Duayne Eaves, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at the Specialty Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. A private family graveside service and interment will be held on Monday, December 28 at Murphy Creek Cemetery with Bro. Mark Mayo officiating.

Mike was the youngest of four sons born to Taylor and Douglas Eaves. He grew up in the Bond Community and graduated from Louisville High School. He was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. Mike was employed with Georgia Pacific for 36 years. He was fortunate enough to begin with a starting position and work his way up to Maintenance Supervisor. His hard work and determination to do things right helped him succeed on his job and in life. Mike decided to retire from Georgia Pacific but soon found himself working for Waring Oil. He worked for them for many years until he decided to fully retire. Mike was known to all as the type of man that could keep his cool and get the job done. His co-workers always said he was a good boss.

Mike and Dot were blessed to be able to travel and they visited all 50 states during their travels. They were also blessed to share many family vacations. He enjoyed the family vacations we had and he enjoyed duck hunting with his family. Mike also enjoyed turkey hunting with his grandsons and close friends. He also enjoyed fishing with dear friends.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Dot. He is also survived by his daughter Melissa Foster and husband Rusty, and Ryan Eaves and wife Brooke all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “MeMike” to his four grandchildren: Tyler (Kacy) Foster, Makenna (Jon) Boyles, Branson Eaves, and Anna Rose Eaves as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Once the grandchildren came along, he was called “MeMike” and that name was used by not only the family but by all of his friends as well. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers John Rod Eaves and Merille Eaves. MeMike will truly be missed by all his family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Gary Boatner, Ken Carter, Duane Culpepper, Teddy Davis, Freddy Fulcher, Eric Reed, and Damon Villalpando.
