Annie Melton

Annie Kilpatrick Melton passed away peacefully at home on December 5, 2020 after a long, rewarding, and satisfying life. "Miss Ann" was 93 years old.
Born on August 7, 1927 Ann was the firstborn of Fred and Estelle Kilpatrick. She is survived by two sons John Michael and wife Dianne and Daniel Wayne and wife Judy. Other survivors include sisters Betty Davis and Fredna Dent and brother Lamar, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Miss Ann was a lifelong resident of Choctaw County where she was a faithful member of Ackerman Baptist Church until her health kept her homebound. Despite being homebound, she enjoyed gardening and yardwork and could be seen manicuring her lawn on her golf cart up until her health began to fail. Grass may never grow again on the golf cart trails she made in her lawn while making sure no pinecone would lay on the ground more than 24 hours before she picked it up.

Miss Ann was an honor graduate of Ackerman High School. Her life's work consisted first of being a devoted wife to husband Forrest Wayne and then her personal accomplishments as a Licensed Beautician, Choctaw County Election Commissioner, and State President of the Mississippi Homemakers Council where she also served as the membership chairman for the National Council. Miss Ann was active in Missions, making trips to Barbados, Winward Islands, France, and Haiti.

Miss Ann retired after 25 years as a Rural letter Carrier. She continued to "work" as an accomplished seamstress, having made or altered clothes for many who read this. One of her passions was bread making and her loaves were seen at many church meals. Ann was a people person and asked that all her friends be extended a special thank you for making her life so fulfilling.

Miss Ann will be laid to rest alongside her Husband Forrest Wayne in a private graveside ceremony on December 8, 2020 with Rev. Danny Irvin officiating.
Memorials may be made to Ackerman Baptist Church or French Camp Academy.
