Ted Haggard Carter

Mr. Ted Haggard Carter, 78, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at his home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 15th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Dr. Bob Schwanebeck officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Bethsalem Cemetery in Choctaw County. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ted was born February 11, 1941, in Winston County, MS. A 1962 graduate of Louisville High School, he served for 34 years with the Louisville Police Department, retiring as chief. Mr. Carter also served in the Mississippi National Guard, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Haggard Carter and Archie Clark Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Taylor Carter of Louisville; a daughter, Christi Carter of Clinton, MS; two sisters, Dale (Karl) Beyer of Louisville, and Ann (C.S.) Stirling of Aliceville, AL; two grandchildren, Madison Hunt and Taylor Hunt; a special niece, Madelon Taylor; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Mike Perkins, Donnie Graham, Fred Childs, Evan Llewelyn, Giles Ward, Gene Davis, John Woodward, Niles McNeel, Will Bane, and Dickie Caperton. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Graham, Tim Palmer, Andy Taylor, Steve Ball, and Lawrence Estes.

Mrs. Sallie Bell Thompson Hunter, 103, formerly of Louisville, Mississippi, passed at her home in Williamsburg, VA., on Saturday, November 9, 2019. Jimmy Dwayne Hatcher

 Jimmy Dwayne Hatcher, 71, passed away at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Mississippi, on Sunday, November 10, 2019. Visitation will be Thursday, November 14 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 15 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Whitehead Cemetery.

Dwayne was born April 18, 1948, to Mardis and Edna Kent Hatcher in Louisville, Mississippi. He enjoyed driving a truck for several trucking companies until his retirement.

Dwayne is survived by his wife of 46 years Christine Smith Hatcher; two sons David Hatcher and Lisa; and Joe Hatcher; his daughter Rainey Hatcher all of Louisville; and his daughter-in-law Kim Hatcher of Renton, Washington. He also leaves behind two sisters Pat Blanton and Teresa Ming also of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Poppy” to his two grandsons Roegon and Ryker Hatcher. He is preceded in death by his son Eddie Hatcher and his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Lance Blanton, Jeff Culwell, Danny Hatcher, Kevin King, Marty Ming, and Matt Renick. Honorary pallbearers are the men in the Hardee’s Coffee Club that meet each morning.

Eddie Hatcher

Eddie D. Hatcher, 46, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Valley Medical Center in Renton, Washington. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Rook and Rev. John Anthony Owens officiating. Eddie was born December 9, 1972, in Louisville, Mississippi. He was a member of Blue Sky Church in Bellevue, Washington. Eddie enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He loved his puppies—Rusty and Max. For the last five years, Eddie was a Security Analyst for T-Mobile.

Eddie is survived by wife Kim Shumaker Hatcher of Renton, Washington; his parents Dwayne and Christine Smith Hatcher; two brothers David Hatcher and Lisa; and Joe Hatcher; and his sister Rainey Hatcher all of Louisville. He also leaves behind a step-daughter Brittany Goodin of Memphis, Tennessee; and step-son Josh Goodin and wife Erryn of Fairhope, Alabama. One of his greatest joys was being “Poppy” to his three grandchildren: Tucker, Olivia, and Aven Goodin; as well as two nephews Roegon and Ryker Hatcher. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Beal and Cecil Smith and by his paternal grandparents Edna and Mardis Hatcher.

Serving as pallbearers are Clay Bane, Lance Blanton, Colby Clark, Jamie Eaves, Vernon Hathcock, Stevie Herrington, Barry McWhirter, and Scott Ruth.

Hilery William "Billy" Caperton

Hilery William “Billy” Caperton, Jr., 69, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Merit Health Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Billy was born in Winston County on December 11, 1949, to Hilery William Caperton, Sr. and Dorothy Crosby Caperton. He was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church. Billy loved to hunt and fish when his health allowed him to do so. He also enjoyed “making the block” riding around the “loop” checking on things. He also treasured the time he spent with friends and helping out at the chicken houses. Billy retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

Billy is survived by special family friends Jackie Holman, Erica Doby, Jordan Sullivan, Morgan Sullivan, and Lexie Holman and the kids all of Louisville. He also leaves behind several cousins to mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Deborah K. Wright

Deborah K. “Debbie” Wright, 68, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Debbie was born July 27, 1951, to Glenn “Bo” and Ruth Wiggs White in Winston County. She is survived by two daughters Jaclyn Wright and husband Cody Frey of Louisville; and Teresa Hart of Fort Worth, Texas; and her mother-in-law Virginia Juanita Wright also of Louisville. She also leaves behind her brother Michael White and wife Sandra of Union, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her four grandchildren: Coral Starich, McKenzie Vanags, Emerson Hart and Logan Hart. She is preceded in death by her husband Ray Wright; and her parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Cody Frey, Zach Rich, Dr. Sam Suttle, Michael White, John B. Wright, and Kenneth L. Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Littrell and Tony Wood. A Tribute to Roosevelt Kelly

Mr. Roosevelt Kelly, 109, of Louisville, Mississippi, passed on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at his home. Funeral Service will be Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at 11 a.m., from Trinity Church of God In Christ, Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, from 3 until 6 p.m., from the Funeral Home. Mr. Roosevelt Kelly, 109 Years of age, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2019 in his home with his daughter Ruby Kelly Triplett. He was born February 25, 1910 in Winston County, Mississippi to Maggie and Doug Kelly.

Mr. Kelly was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Charlotte Kelly in November 1927. Brother Kelly, along with his wife, Charlotte, joined the Trinity Church of God where they both were faithful members and titers for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maggie and Doug Kelly; his wife, Charlotte Kelly; his son, Roland Kelly and all of his sisters and brothers.

Mr. Kelly leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Mildred Kelly Combs of California, Dorothy Kelly Hughes and Ruby Kelly Triplett both of Louisville, Mississippi; 23 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends, especially The Trinity Church of God in Christ family.

Mr. Kelly was a hard working man who loved gardening and landscaping. He was featured in the Winston County Journal with a very large cantaloupe that he grew in the garden at his home on Warner Street. He continued to mow his lawn through his 90s. He lived approximately 2 blocks from his church and was known for whistling from home to church on Sunday mornings and other times when he went to church.

His funeral services were held at Trinity Church of God in Christ, Louisville, MS with Superintendent Fred Idom as Pastor and with Elder Joe Willie Idom the Eulogist. Beck Funeral Home provided professional service. Elder Billy Ray Haynes was the Master of Ceremony. Sister Tonya Roberson sang two songs angelically. The pallbearers were family and friends. The interment was at the Louisville Memorial Cemetery with the Repast at Ray’s Place.

Kenneth Ishman Vowell

Kenneth Ishman Vowell, 88, passed away with his loving niece by his side on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 5, 2019, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 6 at Hinze Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Vowell officiating. Interment will follow in Hinze Baptist Church Cemetery.

Kenneth was born October 17, 1931, to Lennie and Jewel Clark Vowell. He answered the call of his country by serving 21 years in the United States Air Force where he was involved in Air Force Intelligence during the Korean Vietnam Conflict. After his retirement from the Air Force, he enjoyed raising quail.

Kenneth is survived by two daughters Teresa (Scott) Dozier and Donna Gonzalez both of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is also survived by his sister Jane (Bill) Cline; his brother Lennie D. Vowell; and his niece Diane Milner. Kenneth also leaves behind to mourn his passing his granddaughter Amber; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.

Janice Lowrey Richardson

Janice Lowrey Richardson, 58, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, November 1, 2019, in Preston, Mississippi. Janice was born June 15, 1961, to Aaron Olyn and Hilda Null Lowrey. She was a member of East Louisville Baptist Church. She loved spending time at the beach with her family and friends. Janice’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her ten grandchildren. She was an honorable wife, daughter, mother and friend.

Janice is survived by her loving husband of 29 years Larry Richardson of Preston, Mississippi; her sons Jeremy Shafer and wife Randi; Michael Shafer and wife Krystal; her daughters Jeanie McAdory and husband James; Carrie Cervantes all of Louisville, Mississippi; her mother Hilda Null Lowrey; and three brothers, Joe Lowrey and wife Glynda and Murray Lowrey of Louisville, Mississippi and Keith Lowrey of Jackson, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Meme” and “Nona” to her ten grandchildren: Hunter Shafer, Alyssa Shafer, Jade Chandler, Aaron Shafer, Kyra Brooks, J. D. Chandler, Addison Shafer, Ally Cervantes, Willow Shafer, and Alex Richardson. Janice also leaves behind to mourn her passing a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Aaron Olyn Lowrey and her brother Tony Lowrey.

Serving as pallbearers are Jerry Richardson, Justin Richardson, Kaleb Rigdon, Ricky Russell, Hunter Shafer, and Mitch Whitehead. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be J. D.
