Judy Kemp Horton, 82, entered into eternal rest at BeeHive Homes of Louisville on Monday, December 15, 2025, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17 at Whitehall Church with Bro. Mike Dowd officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the Church from 10 a.m. until service time. Interment will immediately follow the service in Whitehall Cemetery.
Judy was born to James Walter Kemp and Ludie Goodin Kemp on March 23, 1943, in the Nanih Waiya community located in Winston County, Mississippi. Her beauty was noticed early by her classmates who voted her Most Beautiful her senior year at Nanih Waiya. She was active in sports enjoying both basketball and cheerleading. As an adult, she found the most joy working in her flower garden and shopping for antiques. Judy was a member of Whitehall Church in Louisville, Mississippi.
Judy is survived by her son Woodward Brent Horton; her sister Shirley Ann Moody; her sister-in-law Sylvia Kemp; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Ira Woodward Horton; and her brother James Harold Kemp.
Serving as pallbearers are Tony Jordan, Van Barrier, Grant Vandiver, William Moody, Clinton Mills, and Tony Kemp. Memorials in honor of Judy may be given to Whitehall Church, c/o Garvin Whitten, 10954 Highway 14 West, Louisville, MS 39339 or to the Alzheimer’s Association online at alz.org.
