Mr. Glenn W. Wiygul, 84, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS.
Glenn was born November 26, 1940, in Shannon, MS and graduated from Shannon High School in 1958. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in entomology and where he also earned his PhD in the same field. He worked with the U.S. Department of Agriculture that partnered with MSU where he worked with a team that eradicated the boll weevil After he retired from the USDA, he worked for the Starkville Public Schools.
Glenn, along with his late wife, enjoyed their farm in Louisville, MS where they raised Katahdin sheep, had buggy horses, donkeys and an assortment of shelter dogs and cats. Many summer vacations were spent in Maine where he enjoyed hiking and canoeing. Photography was a lifelong hobby, entering his work into many local photography contests. He was a member of Liberty Universalist Church.
Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Sherrie Wiygul, and parents, Mabel and Frank Wiygul along with siblings, George, John, Frank, and Mabel Jane.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Shawn Peters, and her husband, Jason, of Sacramento, CA; and stepson, Eric White and his wife, Gigi, of Boerrne, TX; along with grandchildren Skye Peters, Olive Peters and Adair White.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
