Mikel Higginbotham, Jr.

Mikel Higginbotham, Jr., known to family and friends as “Little Mike”, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Macedonia Revival Center in Philadelphia, Mississippi, with Reverend Bert Jones and Reverend Peyton Jones officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. Graveside services and interment will immediately follow the service in his Family Cemetery in Noxubee County, Mississippi, with Reverend Allen Eaves.

Mike was born January 16, 1990, to Mikel Higginbotham, Sr. and Betty Faye McBrayer Higginbotham in Starkville, Mississippi. He was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed any activity on the river; especially boating and fishing; as well as deer hunting with dogs. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his friends; living life to the fullest. His most recent interest was golf; he had fallen in love with the game of golf. He spent his working life in construction. After giving his life to Christ, he was very involved in anything happening at the church as long as his health allowed. He specifically enjoyed the Men’s Bible study group that met on Thursday nights. Mike was dearly loved by his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.

Mike is survived by his loving parents, Mikel Higginbotham, Sr. and Betty Faye Higginbotham; and two brothers, Everett McBrayer and Ben Higginbotham (Pearl) all of Shuqualak, Mississippi. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Virginia McBrayer; four nephews, Hunter McBrayer, Preston McBrayer, Landon McBrayer, and Tommy Lee Higginbotham; and his niece, Stella Faye Higginbotham; as well as other family members and a host of friends. Mike was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Malcolm McBrayer; his paternal grandfather, Bobby Higginbotham, and his paternal grandmother, Seretha Hartness.

Serving as pallbearers are Ben Higginbotham, Everett McBrayer, Chucky Dempsey, Eric Gregory, Tanner Long, Hailey Moody, Dude Rigdon, and Clint Sloan. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter McBrayer, Preston McBrayer, Landon McBrayer, Tommy Lee Higginbotham, Cody Adams, Billy Don Baker, Brock Baker, Matt Boatner, Shane Brooks, Trevor Eaves, Cam Fulton, Bradley Heard, Hugh Johnson, Robert Kratzer, Shane McDaniel, Josh “Taco” McDonald, T. J. Mills, Dylan Morgan, Josh Pilgrim, Cary Presley, Brandon Rigdon, Clifton Seales, Tommy Seales, Cody Stewart, Davis Taylor, Coty VanDevender, Chapin Walters, and Corbin Walters.
