George was born August 1, 1931, to George W. and Lillie Mae Rickles Stephenson in Andalusia, Alabama. He was of the Presbyterian faith. George was a kind and loving man who was always ready to help do anything for anyone. He worked at Gilman Paper Company in Pensacola, Florida, and St. Mary’s in Georgia. He also drove an 18-wheeler and a gas truck. Later, he worked as the manager at an ice plant. George answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during the Korean War.
George is survived by his niece and caregiver, Mary Ann (Bobby) Yates; and other loving nieces, nephews, two cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Bobbie Sue Stephenson; his parents; six brothers and one sister.
Serving as pallbearers are Ray Bolton, Floyd Morgan, Hank Watkins, and Bobby Yates.
