Mary Mescal Sullivan

Mary Mescal Sullivan, 94, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 5, 2020.
Graveside services and interment will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 9, at Vernon Methodist Church
with Rev. Becky Smith officiating. Due to current events, the family requests that visitors follow all precautions that are in place by the order of Gov. Tate Reeves.

Mescal was born October 13, 1925, to Johnny Sydney and Ala Sue Stokes Wray in Winston County, Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Vernon Methodist Church and dearly loved her church family.

She worked at Macon Pants Factory and TRW in Louisville and was always quick to help new people as they were hired. She also enjoyed outdoors activities such as gardening and working in her flowers. Mescal was always ready to help anyone in any way she could. After she became home bound, she enjoyed talking on her phone to her friends.

Mescal is survived by her daughter Shirley Ray Sullivan White of Louisville, and two sons Randy Sullivan and wife Nelda of Noxapater, Mississippi, and Ryan Adams and wife Holly of Little Rock, Arkansas. She also leaves behind two great-great-grandchildren Arya and Astrid Adams. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Tammye White Hamilton, her parents, three sisters Miriam Wray Womble, Johnnie Dee Hill Rogers, and Martha Wray Saterfield, and two brothers Joseph Wray and Erville Wray.

Serving as pallbearers are Austin Hill, Steve Moore, Charles Henry Stokes, Johnny Sullivan, Eddie Womble, and Ted Wray. Honorary pallbearers are Kendall Hisaw, Raymond Reed, Sonny Smith, Carl Noel Stokes, and Johnny Stokes. Memorials in memory of Mescal may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tribute Program, P. O. Box 1000 Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or to Vernon Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Babs Moore, 106 Hanna Road, Louisville, MS 39339.
