Frank Morgan

Mr. Frank Larry Morgan, 76, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 21st, at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Choctaw County, with Rev. Scott Phillips and Rev. Owen Gordon, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home and Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. 

Frank was born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, on October 19, 1942, to Virginia and James Morgan. Raised in the Panhandle Community of Choctaw County Mississippi, Frank attended Weir High School where he played football for Coach Marion Kelly. After graduating from Weir in 1961, he attended Holmes Junior College where he finished with an associate’s degree. He furthered his education at Mississippi State University before beginning work at Taylor Machine Works in Louisville, Mississippi, in the spring of 1966. After sixteen years at Taylor’s, Frank began working at Georgia Pacific ‘s Particle Board Plant where he remained employed until his retirement as a millwright in 2005. Frank joined the Army Reserves in 1966 and served six years before later joining the National Guard. He retired from the National Guard in February of 1991. Frank was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Louisville, Mississippi. He enjoyed his vegetable gardens, raising cattle and hunting on his farm in Choctaw County.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his two daughters Jennifer Morgan of Hattiesburg, MS, and Susan Tanner (Raymond) of Madison, MS, granddaughter Caroline Tanner, sister Anne Christopher of Columbus, MS, nephew Richard Christopher III of Columbus and great-nephew Richard Christopher IV of Ridgeland, MS; and several other nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Dick Christopher.

Pallbearers will be John Woodward, Keith Depriest, Floyd Morgan, Richard Christopher, III, Richard Christopher, IV, and Terry Dempsey.
