Johnson Lafayette "Fete" Carr Sr.

Mr. Johnson Lafayette “Fete” Carr, Sr., 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Keen, Rev. Greg Thomas, Rev. Grady Crowell and Rev. Michael Wells officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church.


Fete was born March 2, 1939, in Winston County, Mississippi, to Therrell and Eldeen Sullivan Carr, Sr. He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and attended Bethel Baptist Church. He was a retired welder and logger as well as a “jack of all trades”.

Mr. Fete is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janie Triplett Carr; his daughter, Becky LaFaye Carr; son, Johnson Lafayette Carr, Jr., all of Louisville. He also leaves behind his sister, Betty Stokes and husband, Edward; and two brothers, Dewayne Carr and wife, Kathy; and Anthony Carr and wife, Frances. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant brother, Bobby Joe Carr.

Serving as pallbearers are Hayden Carr, Mark Dempsey, Allen Hailey, Malcolm Hailey, Kylie Ming, and Jay Stokes. Memorial contributions in honor of Fete may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P. O.
