Mack Duff "M. D." McMinn

Mr. Mack Duff “M. D.” McMinn, Jr., 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 3, 2017, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi.  Visitation will be Saturday, November 4, 2017, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.  Funeral services will be Sunday, November 5, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Junior Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, Mississippi.

M. D. was born December 6, 1930, to Mack Duff and Willie McKnight McMinn.  Currently, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville; formerly, he actively participated in church activities and served as a deacon at Wake Forest Baptist Church in Sturgis, Mississippi.  Mr. McMinn was a graduate of Sturgis High School.  After high school, he went to Macon, Mississippi, and worked for three years.  As the pipeliners were passing through Macon, he got a job with the company and moved to Tennessee where he met and married the love of his life.  For the next 10 years, they traveled throughout the United States with the pipeline.  After that, he worked with King and Heath Construction in Mantee, Mississippi, putting in community water systems throughout Mississippi.  In 1971, he moved to Louisville and started his own business, Dixie Wholesale Waterworks, Inc., where he remained active in daily operations until his retirement.  


Mr. McMinn is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Joan McMinn of Louisville;  his children, Cindy McMinn Smith and husband, Tommy, of Sturgis; Marsha McMinn Gillespie and husband, David; and Jeff McMinn and wife, Kim, all of Louisville.  He is also survived by four siblings:  Marie Hector Morgan; Maxine Winfield; Martha Nell Leslie; and Malcolm McMinn.   One of his greatest joys was being “Granddaddy or PopPop” to his grandchildren:  Summer Clark Hall (Jeff); Ryan Smith (Sara); Blake McMinn (Brittany); Landon McMinn (Amanda); Peyton McMinn and Tyson Tingle; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Ellen Pritchard and an infant sister; and his granddaughter, Joanie Smith Tingle.   
Serving as pallbearers are Logan Danovsky, Lloyd Heard, Cully Hudspeth, Blake McMinn, Landon McMinn, Ryan Smith, and Tyson Tingle.  Honorary pallbearers are all current and retired Dixie Wholesale Waterworks employees, Joe Hodge, and Taylor Tucker.  Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. McMinn may be given to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place, French Camp, MS 39745 or to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 547, Louisville, MS 39339.
