Mae was born on June 10, 1937, to Leroy and Earline Malone Hartness. She was married to the love of her life, Olyn Horne, for 46 years. She attended Noxapater High School, worked for many years at Louisville Pants Factory, TRW, and Noxapater High School as a bus driver. Her passion in life was working on the family farm, driving tractors, baling hay, checking on the cows, and feeding the horses. Hard work was a way of life; sitting idle and watching television was a waste of time for her. Mae read her Bible, loved her family and friends, and never met a stranger.

Mae is survived by two sons, Lamar Horne and wife, Lisa; and Michael Horne all of Noxapater, Mississippi; two grandsons, Brody and Colton Horne; and her granddaughter, Brittani Horne; her brother, Ronnie Hartness and wife, Virginia, of Starkville, Mississippi; her sister, Kaye Emmons and husband, Larry, of Winona, Mississippi; and her brother-in-law, Alvin Horne and wife, Shirley, also of Noxapater; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Estelle McLaurin and Faye Powell.

Serving as pallbearers are Larry Emmons, Phil Hartness, Ted Hartness, Brody Horne, Colton Horne, and Danny McLaurin. Honorary pallbearers are Terry Hartness, Steve Jones, Terry McLaurin, and Bill Taylor.
