Vada Mae Sloan

Vada Mae Sloan, 95, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Interment will follow in Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ms. Sloan was born June 15, 1920 to Phillip E. and Tracy Higginbotham Harris. She retired from working on the assembly line at Sparta Clock and was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church.

Vada is survived by her sons, Willie Davis Sloan and wife, Wendy of Louisville, and Jerry L. Sloan and wife, Kathleen, of Madison. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Dixi Kohrs and husband, Scott, J. R. Sloan and wife, Angela, Benjamin Bryant Sloan, Sarah Kate Sloan, and John Harold Sloan; four great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Davis Sloan; her parents; and her son, Archie Phillip Sloan.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Phillip Harris, Eric Sloan, J. R. Sloan, Preston Sloan, and Travis White.
