Juanita Clyde "Sally" Burchfield Bond

Juanita Clyde "Sally" Burchfield Bond, 97, of Ethel, MS died April 9, 2016, at the Louisville Health Care in Louisville, MS.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in the Jordan  Funeral Home Chapel in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ethel, MS.

Sally was born June 12, 1918, in the Hinze Community of Winston County, MS. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Lawson Burchfield and Nancy Permenter Burchfield. She moved with her family in 1933 from the High Point Community to Ethel where she graduated from high school in 1936.

After high school, she completed training at Fritz Beauty School in Jackson, returned to Ethel, and opened a beauty shop. On January 22, 1938 Sally and Howard "Ditty" Bond married in Lexington, MS. They were happily married for over 30 years until Howard's death in December of 1968.

She was a faithful member of Ethel United Methodist Church, and she served many years as the church treasurer. Her compassion and concern for others was often demonstrated as she provided transportation for neighbors who needed a ride to the doctor's office, or to the grocery store.

After Howard's death, Sally worked for Garan, Inc., in Kosciusko, as a shipping clerk until her retirement. After her retirement, she and her sister-in-law, Ann Burchfield, served as volunteers at the Natchez Trace Visitor's Center, in Kosciusko, and at the French Camp Academy helping prepare campus mail outs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Edwin Bond; her brother, Thomas Earl Burchfield; and sister-in-law, Annie Mae Moore Burchfield, who was also her close friend and neighbor.

She is survived by her sisters, Thelma Ellen Burchfield Wasson, of Oak Grove, LA, Annie Ruth Burchfield Dean, of Crossett, AR, and Nancy Carole Burchfield Pugh, of Lakeland, FL.

She is also survived by her daughter; Margaret Ann Bond Marble (James), of Decatur, AL; son, Charles Edwin Bond (Betty), of Louisville, MS; grandchildren, James Kelvin Marble (Cindy), of Auburn, AL, Caroline Marble McCullough, of Madison, AL, Rebecca Marble Daugherty (Chris), of Charlotte, NC, Marla Bond Inman (Page), of Portland, OR, Andrew Howard Bond (Connie) of Saltillo, MS, Sarah Kathryn Bond Scott (John) of Oxford, MS, and Stephen Lee Bond (Dianne), of Abbeville, MS.

Her beloved great-grandchildren are Nathan Marble, Carly Marble, Noah Marble, Savannah McCullough, Olivia Daugherty, Elijah Daugherty, Jack Inman, Sally Inman, Joshua Inman, Austin Bond, Ben Bond, Cara Scott, Rhodes Scott, Anna Scott, and Emily Bond.
