Chalmers Green

Mr. Chalmers Green, 82, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. The funeral service will be Saturday, July 20th at 11 am at McClain-Hays Chapel in Philadelphia with Rev. Vernell Daniels officiating. Interment will follow at Dry Creek Cemetery.
He was born and reared in the Nanih Waiya community of Winston County and was a graduate of Prince Chapel School. He farmed until he married and moved to Florida where he worked for McArthur Dairy. Mr. Green also owned a trucking business before retiring and moving back to Nanih Waiya where he hauled logs until his 80th birthday. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mattie Sue Green of Nanih Waiya; daughter, Patsy Green of Nanih Waiya; sons, Noel Green and his wife, JoAnn of McCaulley, TX and Marty Green of Nanih Waiya; grandchildren, Kyle Green and his wife, Page of Avon Park, FL and Shyla Williams and her husband, Pete of Columbia; six great-grandchildren; brother, Marshman Green of Nanih Waiya and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maude Green and brother, Mitchell Green.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Luke, Roy Taylor, Everett Stokes, Greg King, Taylor Warren and Caleb Hunt. Honorary pallbearer will be Henry Dale.
