Nadine Culpepper

Nadine Culpepper, 91, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2019, at her residence in Louisville, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in Murphy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Nadine was born March 19, 1927, in Winston County to Earnest and Gussie Mae Hisaw Eaves. She was a member of Murphy Creek Baptist Church where she was active in many church activities. For many years, Nadine taught Sunday School at Murphy Creek and she sang in the choir until recently when she became unable to do so. She was a loving, Christian lady who believed in serving others; often visiting the sick and taking food she had prepared to them. Her hobbies included crocheting, needlepoint, and quilting. As each family member married, they were given a quilt; as children were born, they were given a quilt. She made many beautiful quilts certain that “your hands should always be busy”. Her latest project that she enjoyed working on until she was no longer able was sewing dresses for those going on mission trips to Honduras to give to children. At last count, she had made 300 dresses for mission children.

Nadine is survived by her children, Duane Culpepper; Phyllis Palmer and husband Ronald; and Beverly Robinson all of Louisville. She is also survived by two sisters, Katherine Frazier and husband Rev. Fred Frazier, Jr.; and Susie Holder; a brother Harley Eaves and wife Janie; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. One of her greatest joys was being “Granny Pepper” to her grandchildren: Angie (Gary) Boatner, Daphne (Joel) Cockrell, Dane Bane, Gwen (Chad) Davis, Steve Palmer, Adam (Pam) Kelley, April Ellis, and Amanda (Jason) Hendricks. She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren: Marty Boatner, Breanna Vick, Alexis Kelley, Alisa Kelley, Joseph Boatner, Branden Vick, Carter Ellis, Mya Ellis, Morgan Spencer, Shelby Henderson, Brittany Davis, JBO Hendricks, and Presley Hendricks; and she was looking forward to the birth of her first great-great-grandchild later this year. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward “Ed” Culpepper; her daughter-in-law Carol Culpepper; her son-in-law Mica Robinson; her parents; her brother Billy Joe Eaves and her sister Hazel Flake.

Serving as pallbearers are Gary Boatner, Joseph Boatner, Chad Davis, Adam Kelley, Steve Palmer, and Branden Vick. Memorial contributions in honor of Ms. Nadine may be given to Samaritan’s Purse, P. O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
