Joyce McLeod Foster

Joyce McLeod Foster died peacefully at her daughter’s home on
Monday, June 13, 2016 in Madison, Mississippi at the age of 85. Mrs. Foster was born on May 16, 1931 in Louisville, Mississippi to Robert and Hilda McLeod. She graduated from Louisville High School. After her high school graduation, she moved to Jackson, Mississippi and worked for the Highway Department. She moved back to Louisville and married Ganes Zawon Foster in 1952.

She was a homemaker while her children were growing up and in the early seventies began working full time at Taylor Machine Works in the accounting department. She was a very dedicated employee and you could find her working at 5:00 am each morning until she retired at age sixty-five. Mrs. Foster was a generous individual who loved her family. This time of year, her favorite thing to do was to go bream fishing. You could always drop by her house and she would have a pot of coffee brewing and weather permitting, sit on her front porch amidst her beautiful ferns and geraniums. She was an excellent seamstress and her children will always cherish the many curtains, duvet covers and bed skirts she lovingly made for them. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was also an active member of Louisville Junior Auxiliary back in the sixties.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ganes Zawon Foster; parents Robert and Hilda McLeod; sisters Mary Gookin and Dixie Kennedy; brother Bob McLeod; and Hal Robison, who was like a son to her.

She is survived by her children, Craig Foster (Pam) of Louisville, Mississippi, Margaret Chapman (Derek) of Brandon, Mississippi and Mary Anna McDonnieal (Robert) of Madison, Mississippi; siblings, Helen McLeod of Columbus, Georgia, Carol Ann Frazier (Mike) of McKinney, Texas and Barbara Diamond of Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Brett McCool, Hunter McCool, Laura Maxcy (John), Phillip Foster, Jason Walton (Jennifer), Grant McDonnieal (Allyson), Mary Catherine Franklin (Keith), Jason Chapman, and Brock Chapman; and great grandchildren Lily Walton and Averey Grace Chapman .

A private family service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests during the visitation from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 16th at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi.

Pallbearers: Brett McCool, Hunter McCool, Phillip Foster, John Maxcy, Grant McDonnieal and Robert McDonnieal.

The family would like to thank Christine King, CNA for her loving caregiving during the last months of Mrs. Foster’s life.
