Clarence Edward Crabtree

Clarence Edward Crabtree, 88, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Anthony Edwards, his nephew, officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery in Noxapater.

Mr. Crabtree was born May 2, 1928, to Ada and Clarence Crabtree in Noxapater, Mississippi. He served in the United States Navy for more than eight years. Edward proudly served aboard the USS New Jersey every day of her deployment during the Korean Conflict. In the following years, he supported his family as a farmer and welder.

Edward married the former Naomi Jones on September 21, 1985. They retired to Oxford Arkansas and enjoyed their church family, singing in the choir and the serenity of living in the country.

Edward is survived by his loving wife, Naomi and her children Lani Deppe and Brian Logsdon, their two children and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his daughters, Peggy Outlaw and her husband Howard, of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Sherry Smith and her husband Don, of Brandy Station, Virginia and Tammy Kay of Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Crabtree is also survived by his five grandchildren: Rachel McWilliams; Heather Goodin, William Cory King, William Alewine and Amber Kay. Also left to mourn his passing are five great-grandchildren: Taylor Golden, Ally Goodin, Jayde King, Matthew and Lea Grace Dendy. Edward was blessed by a large and loving family and is survived by his sisters, Sarah, Gladys and Faye, and his brothers Jimmy and Lavelle. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved sisters Josie and Mildred and brothers O’Neil and Andrew.

Serving as pallbearers will be Cory King, Howard Outlaw, Lloyd McWilliams, Wade Goodin, Anthony Edwards and David Harrell.
