Thomas Wesley Blalock

Thomas Wesley Blalock, 87, passed away on May 13, 2023, in Ridgeland, Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lewis Blalock; and a son-in-law, Elton Watson. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Blalock (Alan Porter), Kathy Blalock Stribling (Pete), and Lisa Blalock Wilson (Lowell); granddaughters, Katie Watson Butts (Will) and Maggie Watson Fortin (Aaron); and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Elton Reed and Elizabeth Williams Butts.

Tom was born on March 3, 1936, in Black, Alabama, and graduated from Geneva High School in 1954. He joined the United States Air Force in 1955, moved to Valdosta, Georgia, and met the love of his life, Dorothy Lewis. They were married there in 1956.Tom served in many locations domestically and internationally as he and Dot raised their three daughters. He was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone while serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1978, Tom was a proud veteran and a committed ambassador for the Air Force throughout his life.

After retiring from the military, Tom continued his career in banking, serving as an Assistant Vice President at First United Bank in Meridian and at Deposit Guaranty National Bank in Meridian. When his second granddaughter was born in 1990, Tom and Dot relocated to be near family in Louisville, Mississippi, and he joined The Citizens Bank and Trust Company as a Vice President.

As his son-in-law said, Tom was “a friend to many, stranger to none.” After retirement, he spent his time on many hobbies and community interests which continued his life of service to others. While in Meridian, he was active with The ARC of Lauderdale County, the Meridian Mustang Club, the local chapter of the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Inter-Agency Council, and the Meridian Lions Club. After moving to Louisville, he served as President of the Winston County Board of Supervisors, the Louisville Lions Club, and the Louisville Country Club. He served on the boards of the United Way, the ARC of Mississippi, and the Mississippi Industries for the Developmentally Disabled. After moving to Madison, Mississippi, during his last years, he was a member of First Baptist Church Madison and the Tolleson Bible Fellowship Group.

Anyone acquainted with Tom knew that he deeply loved and cared for “his girls.” He left a legacy to each about the importance of family, and he was thrilled with each new generation as his own family grew. He taught his girls many life lessons and skills, but most importantly, he modeled true love through his marriage with their Mother and Meme. To know Tom was to enjoy his humorous anecdotes, simple acts of generosity, and selfless commitment to others. These traits will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 in the morning on Tuesday, May 16, at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in Meridian. Visitation will begin an hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Abigayle Adult Day Center Activities Fund at 205 Industrial Cove, Ridgeland, MS 39157.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Bratu, Jerry Bratu, Will Butts, Aaron Fortin, Ricky Lewis, Bobby Shields, and Pace Stead.

Timothy Yarbrough

Timothy Yarbrough, 43, of Louisville, MS., passed on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 in Macon, Mississippi. Eric Lee Fleming

Eric Lee Fleming, age 51, of Henderson, Texas, formerly of Louisville, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m. at Camp Ground United Methodist Church in Louisville with Bro. Keith Williams officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will immediately follow the service in Camp Ground Cemetery.

Lee is preceded in death by his loving father, Ernest Fleming, his paternal grandparents, Linzie and Owens Fleming, and his maternal grandparents, Mary and C.C. Huntley, Jr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Martha Huntley Fleming of Louisville; his devoted sister, Angela (Brent) Gohring of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; his daughter, Linzie Fleming, of Temple, Texas; his dear friend, Wanda Fleming of Henderson, Texas; two nephews, Blake (Andrea) Gohring of Owasso, Oklahoma; Garrett Gohring of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one niece, Brooke (Jesse) Sanchez of Hollywood, Florida; one great nephew, Roman Gohring; two great nieces, Georgia Gohring and Amoura Sanchez; and many aunts and uncles.

Lee was born May 25, 1971, in Meridian, Mississippi. Lee attended Ruston High School in Ruston, Louisiana. He received his B.S. degree in Forestry from Louisiana Tech University. After college graduation, Lee’s entire career was in Forestry. He worked for Stevens Forestry Service, the Mississippi Forestry Commission, and the last 23 years for the Texas A & M University Forest Service.
Lee was an avid outdoorsman. He was happiest when he was out in the woods hunting, in his boat fishing or out enjoying nature. He loved going on extended fishing trips with his Uncle Hugh Huntley, his family, and his friends. Boy, did they have stories to tell when they returned from those trips! But, they also always had a bunch of fish to bring home. Just like his dad, Ernest Fleming, Lee could do just about anything he set his mind to do. He enjoyed cooking for people, working in his yard, planting a garden, and helping the elderly. He was highly competitive and loved to win at sports and games. And, he really enjoyed teasing his mother.

Serving as pallbearers are Brent Gohring, Blake Gohring, Garrett Gohring, Ryan Daniel, Phillip Martindale, and Brad Bailey.

Jack Cooper

Jack Davis Cooper, age 73, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital—Golden Triangle in Columbus, Mississippi, with his loving family at his side. Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 15 in Bethel Cemetery in Oktibbeha County with Bro. Jeff Morgan officiating.

Jack was born March 21, 1950, to Davis and Elaine Haimes Cooper in Starkville, Mississippi. He worked in construction finishing sheetrock. Jack attended Morgan Chapel Baptist Church in Morgantown. He was an avid outdoorsman; he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, his mules and horses. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family; he dearly loved his nieces and nephew and their kids.

Jack is survived by his sister, Becky Cooper Lindsey of Sturgis, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Uncle Jack” to his nieces and nephew: Vic Lindsey and wife, Lisa; Brandye Shaw and husband, Steve; and Courtney Cash and husband, James. He also leaves behind his loving great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-niece, and great-great-nephews. Jack is preceded in death by his parents.

Darryl Howard Eubanks

Mr. Darryl Howard Eubanks, 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 13th, at Poplar Flat Baptist Church, with Rev. Doug Wise officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Darryl was born July 22, 1951, in Attala County, MS. He was a graduate of Louisville High School, and Delta State University where he received a business degree. He worked in the furniture and cabinet industry with Bellwood Corp and Lazy Boy Furniture Company, before opening Darryl’s Auto Sales, which he owned and operated for many years. He was a member of Poplar Flat Baptist Church. Darryl loved working with cars, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Nell Simmons Eubanks; and his first wife, Susan White Eubanks. He is survived by his wife, Jeri Field Eubanks; daughters, Holly Fulton and Jasmine (Joe) Estes, both of Tulsa, OK; a son, Clint (Michelle) Eubanks of Terry, MS; a son-in-law, Carmen (Christy) Petrosino of Pass Christian, MS; a sister, Teresa (Sonny) Ellis of Ackerman, MS; a brother, Mike (Janet) Eubanks of Sante Fe, TX; seven grandchildren, Tanner Fulton, Ty Fulton, Tori Fulton, Seattle Lindsey, Ella Estes, Daisy Estes, and Bryce Eubanks; two great grandchildren, Karter and Iverson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Jerry B. Morgan

Jerry B. Morgan, 83, passed away on May 9, 2023 at his residence in Sturgis, MS. He was a retired farmer and member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. He loved music and singing and Mississippi State University athletics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Morgan and Lillie Mae Jackson Morgan; his infant son; sister, Marion Glenn Miller; and his brother, Terrell Morgan.Jerry is survived by his wife, Frances Henry Morgan; daughter, Janna Morgan Flint (Greg); granddaughter, Caroline Flint; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. at Morgan Chapel Baptist Church in Sturgis, with the funeral service immediately following. Brandon Powell will conduct the service. Burial will be in Morgan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Doyle J Pearson

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Doyle J Pearson of Jackson, Mississippi, who passed away on May 4, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Doyle J Pearson to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Hazel Pearson and Eugene Pearson; his wife, Thelma Black; and his sister, Mavis Devine. Colleen Jones, 89, of Starkville, MS, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at her residence in Starkville, MS. She was born November 12, 1933, in St. Martinville, LA. Mrs. Jones was a retired employee of Flex Steel Industries.

Mrs. Jones is survived by three sons, George (Jennifer) Jones, Jr. of Starkville, MS, Ricky (Isabel) Jones of Clinton, MS, Audie (Cindy) Hughes of Starkville, MS; and one daughter, Angie (Tommy) Reece of Starkville, MS. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by her mother, Elia Latiolais; grandmother, Lea Josephine Robertson; grandfather, Alexander Latiolais, Sr.; one daughter, Kathy Musgrove; two sons, Sam Hughes and David Jones; one brother, Saul Melancon; and one sister, Mae Melancon Green.

John Michael “Mike” Ellis, Jr

Mr. John Michael “Mike” Ellis, Jr., 58, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2023 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born July 17, 1964 in Louisville to John Michael, Sr. and Elizabeth Zane Ellis. Mike was a graduate of Mississippi State University and enjoyed attending sporting events with his friends and family. He worked as an Environmentalist for the Mississippi Department of Health for 25 years. In his spare time, Mike enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 5, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Bro. Mike Schmitz and Bro. Lee Holly officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Friday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Craven-Ellis; son, John Craven Ellis of Ridgeland; sister, Patri Ellis of Louisville; mother-in-law, Dorothy Craven of Grenada; brother-in-law, Scott Craven(Bonnie) of Grenada; two nieces, Ana Izabel Ellis and Ainsley Craven and a nephew, Samuel Craven.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

James "Pop" Griffin

A graveside service was held Sunday, April 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. from Blackjack Cemetery in Philadelphia with Bro. Paul Blanchard officiating. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Griffin, 81, of Louisville, died Friday, April 28, 2023, at Oktibbeha County Hospital.

A native of Zephyr Hill Community in Neshoba County, he was a resident of Louisville for the past 52 years. He was owner of North Church Chevron (aka Pop’s) for 37 years until he retired. Working was his hobby; and he enjoyed helping others whenever he could.

Survivors include his sons, David Griffin (Lisa) of Preston and Danny Griffin (Melanie) of Louisville; grandchildren, Wilson Henderson Griffin of Preston and David Ethan Griffin (Hannah) of Lena; a niece and nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Griffin was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Myrna Griffin; and brother, Larry Griffin.

Danny H. Langford

Danny H. Langford, 69, passed away at Winston Medical Center Hospital in Louisville, Mississippi, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 at Reformation Church in Carthage, Mississippi, with Bro. Jeff Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 4 p.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Reformation Cemetery.

Danny was born March 13, 1954, to Walter and Frankie Wooten Langford in Leake County, Mississippi. He retired as an iron worker after spending many years building bridges and multi-story commercial buildings. Danny was an avid fan of Mississippi State University sports. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially turkey hunting.

Danny is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debra Langford; and three sons: Davin Langford and wife, Megan; Dusty James Langford and wife, Nicole, all of Louisville; and Jerry Allen Langford of Pass Christian, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Paw” to his grandchildren: Brandon, Nicholas, Emily, Jayden, Leah, Arianna, Anastasia, and Tobin Langford; his two great-grandchildren Alex Mason and Maleah Langford; and he was looking forward to the birth of his third great-grandchild in May. He is also survived by his sister, Paul Traxler of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and brother, Thomas Langford of Carthage, Mississippi. Danny was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Michael Langford; and his sister, Rebecca Langford.

Serving as pallbearers are Sam Langford, Billy Lee, and Dale Mills. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Reformation Church General Fund, P. O. Box 246, Carthage, MS 39051.

Joe Burt Cade

Joe Burt Cade, 78 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, April 24, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 25, 2023, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A private graveside service will be held at Noxapater Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Burt Cade officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Cade was born July 23, 1944, to the late Joseph Paul Cade and Sue Burt Cade in Louisville, MS and moved to Columbus, MS 16 years ago from Kathleen, GA. He was a member of Noxapater Methodist Church, Noxapater, MS. Mr. Cade retired in 2018 as CEO of Four County Electric Power Association. He enjoyed restoring Ford Mustangs and was an avid New Orleans Saints fan.

Mr. Cade is survived by his wife of 59 years – Phyllis Young Cade Columbus, MS; children - Joe Burt Cade, Jr., Meridian, MS; Paul Cade, Columbus, MS and Shayne Cade, Orlando, FL; grandchildren – Joseph Cade, Hannah Boutout, Mary Amanda Tolleson, Kaylee Bradford and Gracie Brooke Cade; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Adkins, Derek Dawkins, Corey Kilgore, Cole Morgan, Chris Moore, Landon Stapleton and Dedrick Stevenson; honorary pallbearers will be the past and present employees of 4 County Power Association.

Jeffery Carlton Smith

Jeffery Carlton Smith, 59, passed away at his home in Louisville, Mississippi, on Saturday, April 29, 2023. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 4 at Macedonia Revival Center in Neshoba County, Mississippi, with Bro. Bert Jones officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery in Louisville, Mississippi.

Jeff was born November 20, 1963, to Carl and Brenda Cooper Smith in Jackson, Mississippi. He answered the call of his country by serving four years in the United States Marine Corp. After discharge, he became a member of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, where he served in Troop G until his retirement in 2009. Jeff loved motorcycles and rode both as a patrolman and personally. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting.

Jeff is survived by his four children: Steven Smith and wife, Jennifer, of Louisville; Taylor Woods and husband, Stratton, of Noxapater, Mississippi; Brooke Smith of Eupora, Mississippi; and Jacob Smith and wife, Mahnaz, of Rockwall, Texas; and his mother, Brenda Cooper of Lewisville, Texas. One of his greatest joys was being “Big Papaw” to his grandchildren: Hunter Smith, Logan Crowson, and Gray Woods—each of whom he dearly loved and adored. He is also survived by the three sisters: Elizabeth Lenz, Kathy Rickerson, and Jennifer Wall; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Carl Ray Smith.

Serving as pallbearers are Stratton Woods, Hal Estes, Sean Holdiness, Stanley Mitchell, Danny Richardson, and Ronnie Vowell.
