Larry Wayne Peavy

Larry Wayne Peavy, 69 of Columbus, formerly of Louisville, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born, May 10, 1955, in Kosciusko, MS to the late John and Alma Odom Peavy. Larry started as a teenager working in the meat market with his older brother before moving to Louisville and becoming the Meat Market Manager at Louisville Piggly Wiggly before becoming the store manager.
After the tornado in Louisville in 2014, Larry and his wife, Delisa relocated to Columbus, and began working at Sunflower Grocery Store in the meat market until his health began to decline when he was forced to retire. He enjoyed spending his retirement with fur buddy, Max. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delisa Metts Peavy, a sister, Ann Peavy Moore, a brother, Joe Peavy, a great-granddaughter, Regan Peavy, and his parents.

Survivors include his son, Anthony (Kristy) Peavy, Huntsville, AL; daughter, Brandy (James) Blanton, Louisville, MS; brother, Johnny (Dorothy) Peavy, Kosciusko, MS, brother in law, Bud Moore, and sister-in-law, Alice George, grandchildren, Chelsea Peavy, Dylan (Merissa) Peavy, Charleigh Blanton, and one great-granddaughter, Cheyanne James.

Visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Dowd officiating. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm.
