Mrs. Sallie Pearl Griffith Vowell, 63, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017, in Carthage, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 25th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Hill officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Vowell was born October 29, 1953 in Winston County, MS. Sallie was the owner and operator of Vowell’s Country One Stop for over 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Pearl Smith Griffith and Joseph Bryan Griffith.
She is survived by her husband, Travis Vowell of Louisville, MS; her daughter, Daphne (Haley) Ward of Louisville, MS; her son, Taylor (Tiffany) Vowell of Brandon, MS; one granddaughter, Laura Katherine Ward; and four brothers, Horace Griffith of Meridian, MS, Richard Griffith of Oxford, MS, J.B. Griffith of Starkville, MS, and Joe Griffith of West Point, MS.
