Juanice S. Norris

Ms. Juanice Stevenson Norris, 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Visitation will be Friday, July 7, 2017, at Nowell Massey Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. as well as Saturday from 2 p.m. until service time. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Nowell Massey Funeral Chapel with Mr. Larry Norris officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Presbyterian Cemetery in McCool, Mississippi.

Juanice was born December 30, 1929, in Choctaw County, Mississippi, to Alvy and Kitty Whitmire Stevenson. She was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church; a 1947 graduate of Weir High School; and a 1951 graduate of Mississippi State College where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. For more than 10 years, she was an Assistant Secretary to the Treasury Supervisor at Depositors Savings in Jackson, Mississippi. Later she was employed at the YMCA in Vicksburg, Mississippi; Mississippi State University; and with Phillip’s Petroleum in Borger, Texas, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Juanice is survived by a son, Conley Cox, Jr., of Little Rock, Arkansas; a niece, Brenda Patterson and husband, Bernie, of Homestead, Florida; numerous cousins who loved each other like brothers and sisters; and nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Katie Cox Henderson of Conway, Arkansas; and Emily Cox also of Little Rock. Juanice was preceded in death by her husbands, Raymond Norris and Conley Cox, Sr.; her parents; two brothers, Ralph and Willard Stevenson; and an infant sister, Maxine Stevenson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jarrod Blair, Lee Blair, Dr. C. L. Davidson, Dr. James R. Davidson, Dr. Max Whitmire Davidson, and Jaron Henderson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in honor of Juanice be given to Mt. Zion Presbyterian Cemetery Fund, c/o Annabelle Dunlap, 1284 Spay Road, McCool, MS 39108 or to the charity of your choice.
