Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until service time at Porter Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia, MS.

Billie stared work at an early age. Her first job was at a soda fountain, her next job was a waitress, and after that she worked at a plant making plastics. She fell in love and got married at 18, and had three boys. She was a fantastic mother who loved making homemade breads, donuts, and cookies for her boys. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays. It was then that she used her love of baking to make rum balls and special cookies and anything to do with the holiday season. During the Christmas holidays, she would let the boys hang candy canes from the Christmas tree and then let each one take a candy cane off the tree and have it every night until Christmas. She just loved doing little things to make it special. Billie never met a stranger. She always loved talking to everyone, even after she move back to Tennessee from Louisville, MS. After moving back, she renewed her friendship with the friends that she had worked with at the plant. They got together once a week, on Wednesdays, having lunch and talking about old times. They just had a special bond that they continue to share together. Her family meant the world to her. She had seven sisters and one brother, three sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved them all very much and any time she got to spend with them meant everything to her. Billie loved to play softball, where she excelled as a pitcher and batter. She enjoyed making ceramics and painted all of them by hand. She could talk for hours; and especially enjoyed her talks with her sister-in-law, Mildred Calvert, who she talked to every day. She shared the love of telling jokes with her husband of 50+ years, Simon. They both loved to have fun.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Simon T. Young; her parents, Clifton and Marie Everett; and sisters, Kathleen Roberts, Jackie Pace, Bernice Survant, Betty Beck, and Faye Nault. She is survived by three sons, Thomas C. Young of Altamonte Springs, FL, Richard M. (Allison) Young of Tyler, TX, and Barry L. Young of Paris, TN; a sister, Marie Williams; two brothers, Bud Everett and Ray Woodall; grandchildren: Jason Brown, Chris Young, Cameron Young, Monica Brogdon, Brook Hollingsworth, and Brittney Young; several great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
