James B. Schuler Sr.

James B. Schuler, Sr., 73, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Winston Medical Center in Louisville, Mississippi. Visitation will be Monday, October 3, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Sis. Minnie Dempsey and Rev. Allen Eaves officiating. Interment will follow in Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church Cemetery.

James was born May 9, 1943, to James H. and Virginia Rasberry Schuler in Ethel, Mississippi. He was a member of Welcome Chapel Jesus Name Church; he retired as an electrician in the Maintenance Department of Georgia Pacific and he was a life member of VFW Post 5569 of Ackerman. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Schuler is survived by his wife, Sherry Dempsey Schuler of Louisville. He is also survived by three sons, James B. Schuler, Jr. and wife, Lori, of Pearl, Mississippi; Howard Shea Schuler and wife, Allison, of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and Robin C. Barnett and fiancé, Mandy Combs, of Rome, Georgia; his sister, Barbara Schuler Prewitt also of Kosciusko; the mother of his children, Sandra Schuler of McAdams, Mississippi; as well as his beloved best friend, his dog, Max Von Schuler II. Also left to mourn his passing is his nine grandchildren: Matthew Schuler, Chandler Schuler, Whitney Schuler, Kathryn Clare Schuler, Reed Schuler, Jackson Schuler, Kaden Barnett, Lana Barnett, and Carley Barnett. James was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-mother, Agnes Maxwell Schuler.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimmy Alexander, Tony Ballard, Robin Barnett, Bennon Schuler, Matthew Schuler, and Shea Schuler. Honorary pallbearers are Kaden Barnett, Jackson Schuler, and Reed Schuler.
