Graveside services for Ms. Doris Odine Russell Guthrie will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater, MS. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM at John E. Stephens Chapel. John E. Stephens Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Guthrie, 94, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Philadelphia, MS. She lived most of her life in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church, and her hobbies were reading and tending to her cats and she loved her grandkids.

Ms. Guthrie is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dee Guthrie; parents, James Claude Russell and Florence Coleman Russell; son, Paul R. Guthrie; sister, Irene Curto; brother, James Russell.

Survivors include her grandson, John Guthrie; (2) great-grandchildren, Ella Parker and Anna Kate; cousin and caregiver, Reba Coward (Jim) and other cousins, Nancy, Tommy, Jeffery, Johnny, Don, Mike, LeAnn, And Byron.

Randal J. Livingston

Randal J. Livingston, 75, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi, with his loving family at his side. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 21 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville with Reverend Lawrence Runnels and Reverend Charles Rook officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the service in Liberty Universalist Cemetery.

Randal was born to Hubert and Barney B. Rives Livingston on September 29, 1948, in Winston County. He was an active member of Singleton Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. Randal was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially alligator hunting. For more than 30 years, Randal was involved in the lives of students as a teacher at the Winston-Louisville Vocational Center. Later in his career, he served as the Director of Transportation for the Louisville Municipal School District. Randal was recently honored as those in the community showed their appreciation to him for serving as the fire chief of the Betheden Volunteer Fire Department, a position he held for more than 30 years. He was also recently honored by East Central Community College for serving more than 30 years on their school board. There are many people in Winston County today for which he provided a positive influence and guidance through his years in the school system and community service.

Randal is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Pearson Livingston of Louisville; his daughter, Leigh Ann Livingston of Johnson City, Tennessee; and son, Scott Livingston and wife, Marcy, also of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was his three grandchildren: Sydney Rogers, Hayley Rogers, and Garrett Miles; and his great-granddaughter, Navy. He is also survived by his sister, Tina Edwards; his brother, Larry (Laverne) Livingston, and his sister-in-law, Joann Livingston; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Robbie Dale Livingston; and his brother, Hubert “Boozie” Livingston.

Serving as pallbearers are Mack Ball, Toby Burnham, Charles McCright, Mike Perkins, Lance Portera, and Gail Triplett. Memorials in honor of Randal may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital online at stjude.org.

Doris McNeel Hamilton

Doris McNeel Hamilton, 86, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at her home in Noxapater, Mississippi, with her loving family by her side. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 19 at Noxapater Baptist Church in Noxapater with Reverend Jeff Mann and Dr. Bob Massey officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the church. Interment will immediately follow the service in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Doris was born in Noxapater to Victor and Beryl Suttle McNeel on December 11, 1936, the last of their eight children. She was a devoted and active member of Noxapater Baptist Church until her health prohibited her participation. For more than 40 years, she was involved as a teacher (21 years) or as an administrator (19 years) in the education of many students.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Beverly H. Comeaux, and son, Paul David Hamilton both of Noxapater. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as other family members, and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Hamilton; her parents, and her siblings: Gaynell Chappell, Helen Chappell, Gondine Kittrell, Mary Varner, Joe McNeel, Billy McNeel, and Ann Willis.

Serving as pallbearers are George Freeman, Grayson Freeman, Peter Hudson, Wade Kennedy, Jerome Kittrell, and Billy Gene McNeel. Memorials in honor of Doris may be given to Mt. Annie Blackwood Harpole

Mrs. Marianne Blackwood “Annie” Harpole, 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Oak Cottage of Winston Nursing Center. Graveside service and interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 18th, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Newlie Long officiating. Porter Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Annie was born on May 31, 1928, in Louisville, MS, to Thomas Lee Blackwood and Beatrice Isabella Doss Blackwood. She resided in Louisville most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church. After graduating from Louisville High School in 1946, she worked as a dental assistant and before retirement was an assistant loan officer at the Bank of Louisville.

Annie had friends of all ages and enjoyed spending time with them. She played tennis in her younger years and bridge well into her 90’s. Her love of animals was evident by the long list of pets she raised and cared for throughout her lifetime. She loved to drive (too fast) and was known for taking her pups on rides around town. The stories about the “Live Wires” at Legion State Park and activities at the Dance Pavilion at Choctaw Lake were numerous. Annie looked forward to eating out with special friends, keeping up with the “Wrinkled Roosters” and working jigsaw puzzles and word searches. Watching pro-football was entertaining to her, and she could name most of the quarterbacks. Annie had a sense of humor and could always find a new joke or two to tell. Her memory was remarkable as she could basically recite the entire Louisville phone book and knew the family trees of most of her acquaintances. Annie lived life to the fullest but was ready to be with her Lord and Savior.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jeff Harpole; her sons, Douglas Smith Harpole and John T. Harpole (Katherine); a grandson, Douglas Gardiner Harpole; a sister, Wilabel Kowalker (Bob) and brother, J.D. Blackwood.

She is survived by her daughter, Julia Oswalt (Gary) of Ackerman, MS; her grandchildren, Katy Smith (Damon) of Pensacola, FL, Kristin Jewell of Ackerman, Merry Poindexter of Kernersville, NC, and Laura Doggett (Jason) of Eupora; and her great grandchildren, Connor and Will Jewell of Ackerman; Harper and Anna Katherine Doggett of Eupora; Amelia Poindexter of Kernersville, NC; Conner, Julianna and Carter Harpole of Maumelle, AR.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Michael Ard, and staff at the Oak Cottage. Annie always appreciated the visits, calls, cards and Milky Ways from so many who took the time to visit. To all who have checked on her in the last several months, we thank you.

Bo Joiner

Mr. Joiner, 74, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at Neshoba County Nursing Home. He lived in Neshoba County most of his life where he was an Electrician / Plumber. He attended Good Hope Baptist Church and The Sanctuary. His hobbies were riding horses and motorcycles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lavell Joiner and Nellie B. Moore Joiner and infant daughter, Charlotte Rebecca Joiner.

Josephine Robbins

 Josephine Robbins, 79, of Gautier, MS, passed on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at the Merit Health Biloxi Hospital. A beautiful soul has found eternal rest. On November 8, 2023, we bid farewell to a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, Josephine Patton-Robbins. Born on January 12, 1944, in Lexington, Mississippi, Josephine departed this world in Biloxi, MS.

Josephine's spirit lives on in the hearts of her adoring daughters, Tanya Patton, Waukesha Hall (Kevin), and Kristy Robbins; her devoted son, James Robbins Jr.; and her treasured grandchildren, Jaelen, Elijah, and Davante. She is also remembered by her loving brother-in-law, Howard Moore; devoted cousin, Henry “Tank” Smith; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Awaiting her with open arms in the realms beyond are her beloved husband, James Robbins Sr.; her grandparents, Joe Henry Patton and Lila Patton; her mother, Carrie Patton; her brothers, Robert Patton, Jerry Patton, James Redmond Jr., George Patton, Garfield Patton, Albert Patton, Andrew Patton Sr.; and her sisters, Ernestine Doty (Bill), Clara Carpenter (Frank), Mary Elizabeth Mitchell (Dan).

Josephine's life was a testament to the beauty found in simple pleasures. From the aromas of her kitchen to the bliss of a shopping excursion, the tranquility of church, the serenity of a garden, and the harmony of her voice lifted in song, she found joy in every moment. Gospel melodies and the soulful tunes of Sam Cooke were the soundtrack to her life.

A cornerstone of faith, Josephine was a proud member of Greater Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Her unwavering commitment and contagious spirit enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of sharing a pew with her.

Bobby Gene Copeland

Ms. Bobby Gene Copeland, 86, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home in Louisville, Ms. She lived most of her life in Preston, Ms. She was a member of Pleasant Springs Presbyterian Church and her hobby was going to yard sales.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richmond McArthur and Dow Rosamond; son, Jim Copeland; sisters, June Luke and Mildred Landrum; brothers, B.R., Butch, and Joe McArthur.

Survivors include her daughters, Ginger Johnson (Sammy) of Preston; sons, Ray Copeland (Debbie) of Louisville, Kevin Copeland of Preston; daughter-in-law, Lori Copeland of Preston; sister, Julia Pettigrew of Lena; (10) grandchildren; (25) great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dean Abigail “Gail” Fulgham

Dean Abigail “Gail” Fulgham of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Eupora, MS. Gail was born on August 28, 1955, in Sturgis, MS to Frank and Annie Lee (Mitchell) Jones. She was 68 years old. Gail was a retired Southwire plant worker.

Funeral services will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to service time starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Cemetery near Ackerman, MS.

Gail is survived by a daughter, Marci (Justin) Smith, a son, Dusty (Tiffany) Fulgham and 6 grandchildren all of Ackerman, MS; a sister, Sheila (Gentry) Lewis of Starkville, MS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Fulgham, and her parents, Frank and Annie Lee (Mitchell) Jones.

Rhonda Louise Phillips Harris

 Rhonda Louise Phillips Harris passed from this earth into the arms of Jesus on November 7th, 2023.  She was 50 years of age.  Rhonda was born on March 23, 1973, in Louisville MS.    Upon graduation from Winston Academy, she attended William Carey College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in 1996 and later earned her Master Of Education in 2003.  After completing her Bachelor’s Degree, she accepted a position as a Journeyman with the Southern Baptist Convention where she was a teacher to Missionary’s children in Maracaibo, Venezuela for two years.  

 After returning to the states she taught at Prentiss Christian Academy and at St Martin Elementary in Ocean Springs.   The majority of her teaching career was spent in the Harrison County School System in Gulfport. She taught several different grades throughout her 25-year career, but her true calling was for kindergarten. She most recently taught kindergarten at Crossroads Elementary School in Gulfport.  Rhonda also loved volunteering every Sunday in the nursery at First Baptist Church Gulfport.

Rhonda is survived by her son Matthew James Harris, U.S. Army, Fort Jackson, SC, her parents, Ron and Judy Phillips of Louisville, her brother Michael Phillips (Laura) of Ridgeland, along with her two nephews Cole Phillips of Jackson and Reese Phillips of Oxford, and a very special friend Chris Jordan of Saraland, AL. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Earl and Lois Phillips and her maternal grandparents Stansel and Cecile Richmond.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 9th from 12-2 p.m. with the funeral following at 2:00 at Porter Funeral Home in Louisville.  Interment will be at Memorial Park in Louisville.

Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Atkinson, Jr

 Louis Kenneth “Kenny” Atkinson, Jr., 86, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8 in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Davis officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow the service in Friendship Presbyterian Cemetery in Van Vleet, Mississippi.

Kenny was born on September 29, 1937, to Kenneth Atkinson, Sr. and Ethel Lou Clark Atkinson. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church. He answered the call of his country by serving in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy, from which he retired. He served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees traveling extensively throughout the world fulfilling his military duties. Kenny was a prolific reader and was a fitness buff. He dearly loved his family; he especially enjoyed spending time with his nieces.

Kenny is survived by his sister, Patricia Norsworthy and husband, Milton, of Cleveland, Tennessee. He also leaves behind three nieces: Melanie Norsworthy, Susan (Mike) Ellis, and Sarah (Michael) Venable; as well as a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Clark Atkinson and his father, Kenneth Atkinson, Sr.

Jeffery Allen Bonkowski

Funeral services for Mr. Jeffery Allen Bonkowski will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. officiating. Visitation will be held 12:30 to 3 PM Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at John E. Stephens Chapel.

Jeffery Allen Bonkowski, age 62, was known as Jeff to all that loved him. Jeff was born March 11, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan and passed away at Anderson Hospital in Meridian November 4th, 2023.

Jeff was married to Lisa (Ann) Bonkowski. They were lifelong sweethearts from the age of 15. After 42 years of marriage, Jeff and Ann have acquired a wonderful family. Jeff was born to Theodore and Mary Jane Bonkowski. He was the proud father of three sons: Justin (Sarah) Bonkowski of Manchester, Tennessee, Jason (Jessica) Bonkowski, Noxapater, Mississippi, and Jerald (Crystal) Bonkowski stationed in South Korea. Jeff’s greatest joys in life were his grandchildren: Anthony, Jarrett, Gavin, and Jagger. He is survived by five brothers and sisters: Debbie Bonkowski of Taylor, Michigan, Terry Bonkowski of Morehead, Minnesota, Denise (Steve) Lesniak of Livonia, Michigan, Raymond Bonkowski, Plymouth, Michigan, Tim (Deanna) Bonkowski, Taylor, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father and Sister, Alyson Howard.

As a specialist tool and dye craftsman for his father’s business, Jeff was certainly proficient with his hands. He enjoyed working for approximately 30 years in Taylor, Michigan before retirement to spend more time with his grandchildren and his sons.

Jeff was an avid outdoorsman. His passions revolved around hunting, fishing and playing a mean round of golf. However, bowling was a huge passion. As a 300-ring champion and a Junior Olympic bowling instructor, he was considered an expert in the bowling arena. His sense of humor would always brighten any room and fill everyone blessed to be around him with joy and laughter.

Faye Jordan

Mrs. Billie Faye Jordan, age 86, passed away peacefully November 5 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 8th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Phil Fancher officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Betheden Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billie Faye was born May 12, 1937 in Winston County to William Earl Lindsey and Clarice Theon (Rives) Lindsey. A homemaker and mother, Billie Faye volunteered as a leader in the Prairie Girl Scout Council and the South Central AL Girl Scout Council from the late 60s through 1979.

In addition to her active home life, she was a talented artist and owned a ceramics shop in Louisville, MS for several years before moving her business to her home in Sturgis, MS. In later years, Billie Faye created beautiful porcelain dolls and dressed them in hand sewn clothes that she made. She was an excellent seamstress and taught herself how to do smocking, embroidery work on clothes, and quilting. Some of her favorite things were to travel with her husband in their RV after retirement, spend time with her grandchildren, and try new craft projects.

Billie Faye is survived by her daughters, Janet Douglas of Santa Fe, NM; Lisa Noffsinger of Starkville, MS; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Jordan; her parents, William Earl and Clarice Lindsey; grandson John Earl Douglas; and great-grandson Jordan Thomas Douglas.

Vonda Marie Weeks

Vonda Marie Weeks of Eupora, MS, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Diversicare of Eupora, MS, in Eupora, MS. 

Vonda was born on June 1, 1954, in Webster County, MS, to Alvie Daniel and Helen Marie (Collum) Weeks. She was 69 years old. Vonda was disabled at an early stage of life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, 2:00 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. prior to service time.

Burial will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery near Ackerman, MS.

Vonda is survived by 2 sisters, Beverly (Felix) Arnold of Foxworth, MS, and Alicia D. Black of Ackerman, MS; 3 brothers, Eric (Maydell) Weeks of Eupora, MS, Gary (Marie) Weeks of Ackerman, MS, and Terry (Gail) Weeks of Ackerman, MS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvie Daniel and Helen Marie (Collum) Weeks; and 2 brothers, Phillip and Larry Weeks.

Mr. Files passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Preston, MS. He lived most of his life in Neshoba County where he was an automotive body repair man and he was Baptist by Faith. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. Mr. 

Files is preceded in death by his wife, Pam Files; parents, Richard Leon Files and Mary Marcella Sullivan Files. 

Survivors include his daughters, Emily Burks (Matthew), Jesse McKinney both of Philadelphia; son, Jeremy Files (Bethany) of Philadelphia; brothers, Ronnie Files (Wonna) of Philadelphia, Randy Files (Regina) of Noxapater, Richard Files (April) of Philadelphia; (5) grandchildren, Meredith, Reagen, Will, Addie, Arlie.

Norris Dexter Miller

Mr. Norris Dexter Miller was born on August 13, 1957, to Robert Miller and Bettie Hays. He passed away on October 21, 2023, at his residence in Louisville, MS, at the age of 66.
