Thomas Rasse Dobbs

Mr. Thomas Rasse Dobbs, 89, passed away on November 12, 2012, at his residence in Dubach, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 14, 2012, from 1 p.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday with Rev. Bill Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Blythe Creek Cemetery in Choctaw County.

Mr. Dobbs was born on June 9, 1923, to Joe and Ruth Blassingame Dobbs. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Ruston, Louisiana, and a retired salesman for Jarvis Oil Company of Louisville. He answered the call of his country during World War II by serving in the United States Army.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Dobbs of Ruston, Louisiana; his step-daughter, Barbara Blanton of El Paso, Texas; three grandchildren: Teresa Skelton Mann (David) of Ruston, Louisiana; Steve Towne, Jr., (Tracie) of Dickerson, Texas; and Gino Palmieri of Ruston, Louisiana; four great-grandchildren: Tyler Mann, Steven Towne III, Sheena Towne, and Ariana Towne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Dobbswas preceded in death by his parents and his step-daughter, Betty Skelton.

Pallbearers will be David Mann, Tyler Mann, and Gino Palmieri. The family requests that memorials be given to the American Cancer Society, c/o Penny's From Heaven, 532 East Main Street, Louisville, MS 39339.

Norris D. Ward

Mr. Norris D. Ward, 87, passed away on November 11, 2012, in the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi.  Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2012, from 9 a.m. until service time at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, with Rev. Mr. Ward was born on August 29, 1925, to Earl and Ethel Cannon Ward.  He was a member of First Baptist Church and he answered the call to serve his country in the Marine Corp during World War II. He retired as a rural mail carrier after 37 years of service with the United States Postal Service.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ouida Ward of Louisville, Mississippi; his sister, Earline Martin of Lucedale, Mississippi; his brother, Henry Ward of Shreveport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.  Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Etoil Ward. 

Pallbearers will be Gary Mayo, Jeremy Cummins, Gary Hillhouse, Grady Jackson, Bobby Shields, and Larry King.  The family requests that memorials be given to the State Veteran’s Home, 310 Autumn Ridge Drive, Kosciusko, MS 39090 or to the First Baptist Church Bus Fund, P. Mr. J. B. Mr. Jackson was born on March 22, 1931.  He was a member of the Assembly of God faith and was a retired self-employed truck driver.   

He is survived by his son, Randy Jackson of Louisville, Mississippi; his sisters, Wilma and Paul Snow of Philadelphia, Mississippi, and Otis and Sonny Tolbert of Brandon, Mississippi; three grandchildren:  Jacob Keith Jackson, Maggie Grace Jackson, and Thomas Ray Jackson; and his former daughter-in-law, Brandi Hodge Jackson Provius of Aberdeen, Mississippi.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nell Jackson; his parents, William B. and Nannie Louise Crabtree Jackson; three brothers:  B. P. Jackson, C. B. Jackson, and W. B. Jackson; and two sisters:  Eunice Young and Sarah Vowell.

She is survived by a daughter, Arlene (Johnny) Johnson of Louisville, MS; three sons, Benny (Pattie) Cherry of Union, MS, Robert D. (Merita) Cherry of Decatur, MS, and Billy (Tammie) Cherry of Louisville, MS; 8 grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

Lewis F. Coffey

Mr. Lewis F. Coffey, 79, died Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Vickers Personal Care Home in Starkville, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 30th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenny Hodges officiating. Interment will be in Rocky Point Cemetery in Renfroe, MS. Mr. Coffey was born September 4, 1933, in Leake County, Mississippi. He was an Army veteran, and received his B.S. degree in Geology from Mississippi State University. He was the former owner of Firestone and Town & Country Furniture in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Dee Mitchell Coffey.

Mr. Coffey is survived by two daughters, Catherine (Blake) Purcell of St. Petersburg, Russia, and Melinda (Rodney) Merkel of Temperance, MI; two sons, Kent (Judy) Coffey of Starkville, and Chris Coffey of Starkville; a brother, Joe Coffey of Madison, MS; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Mary Patricia "Pat" Ryals

Mrs. Mary Patricia “Pat” Ryals, 72, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Regency Hospital in Jackson, MS. Mrs. Ryals was born October 21, 1940. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sybil and Howard Garner; and a sister, Jean Huntley.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Ryals of Brandon, MS; two daughters, Debbie (Mike) Hardwick of Oxford, MS, and Angie Ryals of Madison, MS; a brother, Jim Garner of Weir, MS; two grandchildren, Kelsey (Eddie) Malone and Mary Michael Hardwick; and one great grandchild, Branson Malone.

Robert Tilton Hemphill

Mr. Hemphill was born on April 12, 1950.  He was a member of South Louisville Baptist Church and was a retired car salesman.  

Mr. Hemphill is survived by his daughter, Kelli Hemphill Haynes of Louisville, Mississippi; one sister, Patricia Hemphill of Roseville, California; one brother, Ronald Hemphill and wife, Patsy; and one grandson, Branson Haynes all of Louisville.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Tilton Hemphill, Jr. and Kathleen Parks Hemphill.

Glendon "Skinny" Smith

Mr. Glendon “Skinny” Smith, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at his residence in Louisville, Mississippi.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 24, 2012, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nowell-Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012, in the Nowell-Massey Funeral Home Chapel Rev. Eddie Painter and Rev. Tim Horton officiating.  Interment will be in Ellison Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.  

Mr. Smith was born on December 10, 1922.  He was a member of Ellison Ridge Baptist Church and a retired supervisor with DeSoto Furniture in Canton, Mississippi.  After his retirement, he worked for the City of Canton and later as a part-time guard for Georgia Pacific Corporation in Louisville.  He answered the call of his country during World War II by serving in the United States Army.  

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith Carr and husband, Dewane; and his sister, Maxine Houston all of Louisville, Mississippi.  He also has two grandchildren:  Brian Keith Smith and wife, Cristina, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and Felecia Jackson of Southaven, Mississippi, as well as, three great-grandchildren:  Cody Jackson, Kennedy Jackson, and Olivia Smith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hemphill Smith; two sons, Jerry Wayne Smith and Byron Glenn Smith; and his parents, John Estol and Nettie Smith.

Pallbearers will be Keith Smith, Mitch Sanders, Larry Cockrell, and Wayne Haggard.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the McDonald’s Coffee Crew. Mrs. Suttle was born May 17, 1926, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi. She was a homemaker, a member of Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Mashulaville Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, William Felix Suttle Sr., and her parents, Nannie Lou Teasley and Robert Jeremiah Johnson.

She is survived by two daughters, Nan B. Lee of Louisville, MS, and Jerry L. Browner of Florence, MS; one son, William Felix Suttle Jr. of Jackson, MS; one sister, Verlin Sutherland of Terry, MS; one brother, Ellzy Johnson of Crystal Springs, MS; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Whitmire of Louisville, Mississippi; and three sons: Steve Michael Whitmire (Sandra) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Alan Wayne Whitmire (Georgia) of Columbus, Mississippi; and Kenneth Earl Whitmire (June) of Albany, Georgia. He is also survived by two sisters: Juanita Rodgers (James E.) and Linda Swain (David) all of Louisville,Mississippi. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip M. and Elva Mae Adams Whitmire; his sister, Bettye Jean Stewart; two nephews, Mike Swain and Dan Stewart; and his great-niece, Tammy Roland.
