John "Buddy" Patterson

John “Buddy” Patterson, 80, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. A private family memorial service celebrating Buddy’s life will be held at a later date.

Buddy was born November 24, 1944, in Mississippi to Johnnie Edward Patterson and Elizabeth Rhodes Patterson. He was a member of Longview Methodist Church; he gave his life to the Lord in 1957. Buddy worked in construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a Mason for 50 years as well as a Shriner. Buddy enjoyed working; his friends said he was a hard worker with a great sense of humor; and he enjoyed fishing. Buddy answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy.

Buddy is survived by his son, John Calton Patterson; three sisters: Nancy Edwards, Linda Makamson, and Debbie Johnson; and his brother, Ricky Patterson; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Stroud and Ann Patterson; and his brother, Wayne Patterson.

Jessie Lee Head

 Jessie Lee Head, 84, of Weir, MS., passed on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at her home. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 11 a.m., from Beck Funeral Home, 226 North St., Louisville, MS. Mrs. Head was born July 15, 1940 to the parents of Jesse Paul Mattison and Etta Wharton Mattison in South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Mattison and Ella Mattison; siblings, Charles Mattison, Susie Mattison Williams, Joseph Mattison and James Mattison.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Head; children, Robert Lee Head, Jr. Jesse James Head, Cynthia Anita Head and Crytal Denise Kreutner (Ronald), and a host of other relatives and family

Ronald Eaves

Ronald S Eaves passed away in the very early hours of Thursday, April 17 from pancreatic cancer. Ronald was born in Louisville, MS on June 23, 1943 to parents Junior and Hilda Hall Eaves. 

He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1966 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. On June 22, 1962 he married the love of his life Pat Boyles Eaves. They had two children: Michelle Eaves Foster and Lyle Eaves. He loved bream fishing, telling stories, traveling, exploring nature, going on church mission trips in Montana and learning about anything and everything he had the opportunity to. He was a strong guiding force for his family, giving them all a role model for a life in Christ and making the most of life. After retiring, he picked up several hobbies though his favorite was arguably wood-working for which he made almost all his own tools. He was a lifelong fan of sports, never missing a game MSU was playing in, no matter the sport. He connected with everyone he met, always asking where they grew up and found a way to connect his life to theirs, and, therefore, never met a stranger. He loved history and taking his grandchildren to places of historic significance, sharing that love with them.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Johnny Frank Eaves, mother- and father-in-law Kate and Tonnie Boyles, and his grandparents JW “Johnny” and Belle Eaves and Frank and Polly Hall.

He is survived by his wife Pat Eaves, his children Michelle Eaves Foster and Lyle Eaves [Stacy Eaves]. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Chelsea Eaves, Mary-Allyn Foster McCoy (and her husband Stephen McCoy), Lainie Foster, and Ryder Eaves. He also leaves one great-grandchild Dalton Mayo. He is also survived by his brothers Don Eaves [Gail Eaves] and Vance Eaves [Jenny Eaves] and brother- and sisters-in-law Mike Boyles [Mary Boyles], Bettye Forster [Mike Forster], Debra Childs [Rev. Mike Childs], as well as a whole host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was known to have a listening ear, a sharp wit, a fair disposition, the mind of a story-teller, and an unshakeable faith in God. He will be missed by his large family, his church family of Hillcrest Baptist Church, and the many not-so-strangers he met throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Benny Luke

Benny Luke, 84, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the Winston Medical Center Nursing Home in Louisville, Mississippi, with his loving family at his side. Visitation will be Monday, April 14 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Harmony Baptist Church with Reverend Jerry Lundy officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Harmony Cemetery.
Benny was born March 8, 1941, to James Tillman Luke and Wellie Daniels Luke in Neshoba County, Mississippi. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Benny retired from Taylor Machine Works after more than 30 years of service. He loved to fish and hunt; and he also enjoyed playing dominoes. He answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy.

Benny is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Evelyn Goodin Luke; son, Mark Stevenson (Fran); annd daughter-in-law, Cathy Stevenson all of Louisville. One of his greatest joys was being “Pawpaw Benny“ to his five grandchildren: LaShara Tingle (Tyson), Quinton Stevenson (Kayla), Ethan Stevenson (Deah), Travis Stevenson, and John Allan Stevenson; his eight great-grandchildren: Cheston Jones (Chynna), Kyle Jones (Kayla), Nikki Stevenson, Nora Stevenson, Lily Stevenson, Eden Stevenson, Lane Tingle and Wyatt Tingle; as well as his great-great-grandchildren: Ryklin Claye Jones, Estee Claire Jones, and he was looking forward to the birth of Millie Mae Evelyn Jones in August. He also leaves behind his siblings: Dorothy Gressett, James Luke, Dwight Sloan, Virgil Luke (Betty), Glenn Luke, and Larry Luke (Maxine); in addition to a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mike Stevenson; his parents; brother, Cecil Luke; and sister, Martha Carter.

Betty Nell Weaver

Betty Nell Weaver, 86, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 11, 2025, in Brandon, Mississippi. Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville, Mississippi. Betty was born January 25, 1939, to Thomas Edward and Lorena Elizabeth Richards Lee in Neshoba County. She enjoyed working in her flowers and was known for her ability to break a leaf off a plant and be able to root and grow a plant from it. Betty enjoyed cooking; she was known for her teacakes and pies. To her children’s friends, she was known as “Momma J” and she was always willing to cook for them, no matter the time of day or night. Betty enjoyed being with people and she never met a stranger. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them and spending time with them. She also enjoyed listening to southern gospel music and attending concerts.

Betty is survived by three children: Tammy Pierce (Charles S.) of Pearl, Mississippi; Ricky Jamison (Glynda) of Brandon, Mississippi; and Mike Jamison (Neesie) of Walnut Grove, Mississippi. One of her greatest joys was being “Grandma” to her seven grandchildren: Lee Jamison, Brandon Harkins, Shannon Jamison, Danielle Jamison, Hailey Jamison, Ashley Pierce Ownby, and Niki Pierce; as well as her four great-grandchildren: Collins Harkins, Charlie Ownby, Sadie Ownby, and Camille Harkins. She is also survived by three brothers: Robert Lee, Billy Lee (Faye), and Zane Lee (Jodie). Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Weaver; son, Scott Jamison; her parents; and an infant brother.

Algene Howard

 

Algene Howard, 78, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at his residence in Kosciusko, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Whitehall Church in Louisville, Mississippi, with Reverend Ronnie Turner officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Whitehall Cemetery.

Algene was born in Louisville on December 28, 1946, to Sam and Ruth Howard. He was a carpenter and enjoyed building things. Algene was a prankster; he enjoyed playing jokes on everyone and was always fun to be around. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and singing; and he loved to watch westerns and enjoyed listening to Hank Williams. Algene dearly loved his family and enjoyed visiting with them; especially at meal time! His faithful companion, Chico, will surely miss his best friend.

Algene is survived by his wife, Catherine Howard of Kosciusko; and three sons: Clinton Howard (Sara) of Louisville; Michael Howard of Choctaw County, Mississippi; and Jason Howard (Rose) also of Louisville; and three stepsons: Micheal Pilgrim (Kerry) of Huntsville, Alabama; Timothy Pilgrim (Mary) of Hollywood, South Carolina; and Terrence Pilgrim of Kosciusko. One of his greatest joys was being “Papaw“ to his nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Algene also leaves behind his sister, Mary Ruth Howard Kelly; two sisters-in-law, Susie Howard and Sandy Pope; and two brothers-in-law, Thomas Pugh (Tena) and Ronnie Turner (Mia); as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruth Howard; first wife, Patricia Sisson Howard; second wife, Julie Ann Turner Howard; and four brothers, Tony Howard, Danny Howard, Lee Howard and Leo Howard.

Micheal M. Hemphill

Micheal M. Hemphill, 50, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his residence in the Nanih Waiya Community with those who loved him at his side. Micheal was born July 17, 1974, to Randy J. and Camellia Tramel Hemphill in Macon, Mississippi. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was also a licensed minister. Micheal loved all things related to computers and was an exceptional computer programmer.

Micheal is survived by his wife of 24 years, Andrea Bartlett Hemphill of Louisville; daughter, Emily Hemphill of Brooksville, Florida; son, Tyler Hemphill; and stepson, Eddie Laudien of Allen, Texas. He also leaves behind his father, Randy J. Hemphill; his sister, Tina Long; mother and father-in-law, Judy and James Bartlett; and brother-in-law, Stephen Bartlett; in addition to his nieces, Maria Shows, Natalie Long, and Maddy Jo Long; and nephew, Quinton Long; other family members, and friends. Bobby Adcock

Bobby Mack Adcock, 61, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at his residence in Winston County, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 11 at Friendship Baptist Church in Sturgis, Mississippi, with Reverends Jeremy McCrory and Bill Ross officiating. Bobby was born December 2, 1963, to Bobby Earl and Nancy Sue Pritchett Adcock. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Sturgis. Bobby was an electrician at Winston Plywood and Veneer. He enjoyed hunting, especially deer; fishing; watching college sports; and eating steaks. He also dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sandra Adcock of Sturgis; and three sons: Bryson Cole Adcock (Megan) also of Sturgis; Jessie Dwain Walters (Christie) of Collins, Mississippi; and Douglas Scott Walters (Dee Dee) of Seminary, Mississippi. One of his greatest joys was being “Pepaw” to his three grandchildren: Ainsley Nicole Adcock, Kamrie Paige Duckworth (Colby), Gaige Scott Walters, and he was looking forward to the birth of his fourth grandchild, Bobby Anderson Adcock, in August. He is also survived by three brothers, Champ Adcock (Amy), John Smith, and Daniel King; and his sister, Mary Nell Adcock; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Joy King.

Robin Blaine

Robin Blaine, 54, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at AMG Specialty Hospital – North Mississippi in Batesville, Mississippi. A memorial service celebrating Robin’s life will be held at a later date.

Robin Geoffrey Blaine was born September 1, 1970 in Louisville, Winston County, Mississippi to Robert Earl Blaine and Wynne Inez Ferguson Blaine. He was reared in Winston County and spent most of his adult life there. He graduated from Louisville High School in 1988 and attended Mississippi State University for two years, where he met many life-long friends. Robin’s passion was science fiction and fantasy role-playing games. His friends loved his beautiful drawings of fantasy characters and enjoyed the richly detailed stories he would weave during game nights.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Danny Burns, and his beloved dog Snow Bear. He is survived by a brother, Jerry Michael Burns of Grandin, Florida; sister-in-law Susan Burns of Columbus, Mississippi; nephews Yancy Burns (Shanda) and Daniel Burns (Misty); great-nephews Dylan, Morgan, Harper, and Evan Burns and Thomas Cruthirds (Krew); and great-niece Madilyn Burns Cruthirds (Kyle).

He will be missed by many friends all across the nation. Rest in Peace, brother.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Shumaker; her parents; and her brother, Doyle Adcock (Shirley).

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Thompson, Rhyne Thompson, Adam Livingston, Branden Livingston, Clayton Shumaker, Ethan Thompson, and Kaleb Shumaker. Memorials in honor of Dean may be given to New Hope Baptist Church, 6917 Attala Road 5216, Kosciusko, MS 39090.

William Brian Sims

William Brian Sims went to be with His Lord and Savior at the Olive Branch Methodist Hospital on April 2, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, April 4th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Faulk and Rev. Trent Jaudon officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Noxapater. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Brian Sims was born Nov. 9, 1976, as the second son of Ray Sims and Carol Sue Young Sims of Louisville, MS. Brian grew up loving the country life around cattle, farming, hunting, and fishing. He loved the outdoors. Brian always enjoyed the simple things in life: faith, family and friends. Brian loved all sports, but especially football, and he excelled as a running back for Winston Academy then continued to play for two years at East Central Community College.

Brian was a Winston Academy graduate, receiving many honors including Mr. Winston Academy. He then graduated from ECCC later attending Delta State University earning a B.S. in general sciences. Brian turned his love for football into a career with coaching teams at Newton Academy, Winston Academy, and Starkville Academy. When not on the field, Brian also enjoyed teaching in the classroom. He also enjoyed another career with Farm Bureau Insurance and Alfa Insurance. He loved people and always loved to make them laugh. He was the center of fellowship with his great sense of humor and storytelling antics. On May 18, 2002, he married the love of his life Laura Hope Faulk Sims. They were blessed with four beautiful children: Julianna Kate (19), Jonah Ray (18), Jillian Faith (16), and Judah Robert Sims (11). Brian's greatest love besides his family was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was an active member of the South Louisville Baptist Church where he served his Lord Jesus faithfully as a deacon for 20 years and a minister of music for 10 years. Playing guitar and singing in the church and singing with his family was a great joy for him. His sense of humor and love for his neighbors will be greatly missed.

William Brian Sims is survived by his wife of almost 23 years, Laura Hope Faulk Sims, four precious children Julianna, Jonah, Jillian, Judah, his loving parents Carol Sue Young Sims and Ray Sims, and loving brothers Alan Sims (Grace Ann) all of Louisville, MS, and Randall Sims (Jennifer) of Columbus, grandmother Margaret Ann Carter Young of Louisville, and his aunts and uncles, John Albert (Kathy) Young, Gloria (Gary) Miller, and Brenda Sims, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his great heroes his grandparents: Cleo Strum Sims and Seth Lavern Sims and his “JJ” Albert Harlan Young; his uncle, Robert Sims, and aunt, Betty Winstead.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mich McAdory, Lance Eichelberger, Josh Hatcher, Mack Stubbs, Jason Whatley, John Albert Young, Alan  Sims, and Randall Sims. 

Wren Alan Thomas, Sr.

Funeral service for Mr. Wren Alan Thomas, Sr. will be held at 2 PM Friday, April 4, 2025, at John E. Stephens Chapel with Rev. Cody Fedrick, Rev. Glynn Barker, and Randy Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery in Noxapater. Visitation will be held from 10 AM-2 PM Friday, April 4, 2025, at John E. Stephens Chapel.

Mr. Thomas, 60, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a former business owner of TeleCom Communications. Mr. Thomas was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Smallwood Hunting Club, and Gunline Shooting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed competitive shooting and tennis.

He is preceded in death by his step-mom, Marilyn Thomas.

Survivors include daughter, Chelsea (Cody) Fedrick of Philadelphia; son, Wren Alan Thomas, Jr. of Noxapater; parents, J.W. Thomas of Noxapater, June Hurst of Hattiesburg; sister, Lynn (Bobby) Martin; brothers, John A. (Denita) Thomas of Noxapater, Bubba Jones and Casey Jones of Hattiesburg, Freddy (Amy) Thomas of Noxapater; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. A friend to ALL.
