John “Buddy” Patterson, 80, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home in Louisville, Mississippi. A private family memorial service celebrating Buddy’s life will be held at a later date.
Buddy was born November 24, 1944, in Mississippi to Johnnie Edward Patterson and Elizabeth Rhodes Patterson. He was a member of Longview Methodist Church; he gave his life to the Lord in 1957. Buddy worked in construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a Mason for 50 years as well as a Shriner. Buddy enjoyed working; his friends said he was a hard worker with a great sense of humor; and he enjoyed fishing. Buddy answered the call of his country by serving in the United States Navy.Buddy is survived by his son, John Calton Patterson; three sisters: Nancy Edwards, Linda Makamson, and Debbie Johnson; and his brother, Ricky Patterson; in addition to a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Mary Stroud and Ann Patterson; and his brother, Wayne Patterson.
