Virginia Fant Martin

Virginia Fant Martin, 105, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at her residence in Noxapater, Mississippi. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1 in the Nowell Massey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Fondren officiating. Visitation will be the day of the service from 12 p.m. until service time at Nowell Massey Funeral Home in Louisville. Interment will immediately follow the service in Memorial Cemetery.

Virginia was born July 26, 1914, to Steppe and Allie Files Fant. She was a member of Noxapater Baptist Church. Virginia was a member of the Garden Club; she enjoyed gardening and working in her flowers. She also loved to read books and study her Bible. Virginia was always a willing volunteer to model for the Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon hosted each year at Lake Tiak-O’Khata.

Virginia is survived by her nieces: Denise Fant Ford and husband Chris of Germantown, Tennessee; Dianne Fant Yaich and husband Scott of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Mildred Fant Waters and husband James of Southaven, Mississippi; Mary Breazeale of Brandon, Mississippi; and Martha McBrayer of Charleston, Mississippi. She also leaves behind to mourn her passing two nephews Bill Martin and wife Jautees of Noxapater; and Wayne Martin and wife Caroline of Gloster, Louisiana; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Doyle Martin; her parents; her sister Juanita Thornton; and three brothers: Denny, Marion, and Thomas Fant.

Serving as pallbearers are Hugh Barrier, Joey Estes, Jeff Hill, Jimmy Martin, Danny Price, and Chris Wells. Memorials in honor of Virginia may be given to Noxapater Baptist Church, P. O. Box 251, Noxapater, MS 39346.
